Em_Jay75 81 Posted May 16, 2018 I am also thyroid-less due to having had thyroid cancer. In order to suppress any thyroid cells from coming back they keep me "hyperthyroid". You'd think that would have helped me keep some weight off.. No I was not so lucky. Maybe its like you said synthetic hormone is never as good as the real thing. One word of advice which may or may not apply, but being on high levels of thyroid replacement hormone causes bone density loss. Since these surgeries can cause Calcium deficiency, you young ones might want to keep a close eye on your calcium levels because you might be at higher risk of developing osteoporosis later on.Thanks for the info!
