I would just explain this to the nurse/doctor that is seeing you.

its normal to feel gassy and not expel it. The “puking” feeling could be because you are nauseous; maybe ask for anti-nausea meds

Hey! I felt the same way had a similar situation when I had my surgery in April 2nd. I felt gassy but wasn’t expelling gas from either end. When I finally passed gas and began burping, I felt so much better. Sipping drinks helps cut back on the “puking” feeling.

I had complications but now I’m feeling better. Walking/standing also helps move the gas around and it made me start feeling a lot better.

Hope this helps!

This really helped! I felt the same exact way after surgery, they told me the nausea was due to the anesthesia. This really helps and it’s comforting to know someone else has a similar experience because everyone seems to be telling me a bunch of stuff lol my surgery was April 30th, it’s been a week and I feel a lot better.

I had nausea really bad. They alternated between two anti nausea drugs(one worked and one didn’t). They then gave me anti nausea Patches for behind my ears which started to help. The good news on day four I was so much better!

I am five days post-op. My doctor put me on a behind the ear anti-nausea patch the night before the surgery and it was a life saver. I can identify with the gassy feeling. The thing that helped me most with that was getting up and walking around the hospital floor once an hour. The gas just needs to work its way out via the release of CO2 via the breathing process.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
