Just got my surgery Date May 14th!!!!!!!!!!!

Recommended Posts

You guys I’m sooo excited! For so so long I’ve been thinking of doing this, reading this board, watching Weightloss shows and YouTube videos and finally I’m here posting my surgery date. With my luck I’m probably only dreaming and I’ll wake up at 7 am which is what my alarm is set to this is so surreal. I was so afraid of having to wait weeks and weeks and having this big build up to surgery day. I start my liquid diet tomorrow and honestly I do not feel like I needed more time to stuff my face although I will go out to dinner later and have a juicy steak and a few drinks. I’m so excited and ready for this. I have to add that my surgeon did something I didn’t like- he tried putting doubt into my decision to go with a bypass and really challenged me as to why I want it and why I don’t want the sleeve. Doc because I don’t want the slightest possibility of GERD and because I would like to lose the most amount of weight in the shortest amount of time and have higher odds of keeping it off without requiring a DS. I feel that this is my one and only shot at getting a grip on my life and my health and I can’t afford (nor will insurance) Image1525122505.855240.jpgto gradually go from procedure A to B if needed when I can cut the crap and get to business. I didn’t say that but I was thinking it. Okay enough rambling.

Starting weight 295lbs

Current weight 305lbs

Goal weight 140lbs

Good for you! This is your body, your choice to which surgery you wish to have. I’m behind you a week. My gastric bypass is on May 21st.

Congrats! Soon We’ll be on the other side. And yes you’re 100% correct. It’s so crazy because just now I was making a video for myself. I wanted to talk about how today was my 2 weeks before surgery and how different I will look soon. I made sure my whole body came out and that I said bye to the fat me. While watching the video I felt mortified. I try not to look into mirrors and I don’t take pictures because it’s hard for me to see myself at this weight. So playing back the video and seeing just how big I am definitely was a shocker and reassured me of my decision. To think we see the number on the scale but we refused to see ourselves carrying that weight. I can honestly say I don’t feel as big as I looked in the clip but that’s me that’s how big I am. Deff made the right decision.

Congrats! I know it's exciting as I just got my surgery date too, mine will be on May 29th. I'm glad that you advocated for yourself and are going straight to bypass. Your doc should be there to guide you, not coerce you into doing something you don't want to do. Way to stay the course! :1310_thumbsup_tone1:

Btw guys, I did go out and have that steak I mentioned earlier but it wasn’t as orgasmic as I thought it would be. Figg since it’s my last meal before the liquid diet and all that it would mean much more to me but it didn’t. I honestly just want to wake up tomorrow morn and start my liquid diet and embark on this journey.

Hi Yo-Yo girl! I’ll be having my surgery in NYC as well. What facility are you using. I’m with Columbia-Pres. I confirm my surgery date on 5/8.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
