Things are moving along

Recommended Posts

I’m so happy and relieved, saw the psychologist on Friday and I passed!! I was so nervous and didn’t know what to expect but once I met her I was fine. She made me feel comfortable. So, things are moving along for me. I see the nutritionist on may 9th. Has anyone heard of H-pylori? Apparently I tested positive for that. Sucks! I’ve been on antibiotics for it and I have to test again through the stool. Not looking forward to that part. I was hoping everything would go smooth but I’m guessing this might slow down my surgery date. I’m so ready to have surgery. I hate waiting. I’m an impatient person. Anyway, hoping to get a surgery date soon.

H-pylori is common, about 50% of the people in the world have it. It generally lies dormant in many people. It can cause ulcers and other conditions especially for those undergoing weight loss surgery. You need to kill it before surgery. It can be a difficult bug to kill. You may have to undergo a couple attempts with different cocktails of antibiotics to finally end it.

Just my luck! So much for everything going smooth. Yeah, I was told it could take a couple of attempts to get rid of. I’m just praying it will go away first attempt. Wish me luck guys please. [emoji17]

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
