Hi there to all. I am not a very good bandster. I am in a slump that I can't seem to shake. I am losing the same weight. I lose 5 and then gain it back, lose it again and gain it back. I have had trouble with fills and am only at 1.5 in a 4 cc band.

My question is that if I get more of a fill will I see more of the losing and less of the gaining. I can say that I have not made all the right choices but I am so way better that I was pre band. Also I am down from a 24-26w to 18-16w. Total #'s lost is 30 in 9.5 months. I cannot see it and my family is not seeing changes anymore.

I do not know what to do and I am just typing out loud.

THANKS FOR ALL HERE!!!!!!!!!!

Rene' -

There are some things I always ask myself before a fill -

1) - am I eating 2 to 3 oz of lean Protein and veggies, and staying full for 3 to 4 hours?

2) - Am I following the bandster rules like drinking with eating?

3) - How much am I eating to get full?

If I am eating a lot more than the 3 oz, and getting hungry within a few hours, I need a fill.

I went thru the same thing you are going thru from July to October, I relized I as losing/gaining the same 5 lbs. I took a long look at what I was eating, doing and found that I needed to get back to the basics of bandster eating. This has really helped.

I love the book The Success Habits of Weight-Loss Surgery Patients (Paperback)

It has really helped me to see what others do to stay on track. What helped them be successful. Its for all kinds of WLS patients, including Lap-Band.

Hang in there and you will succeed.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
