morganmary 8 Posted April 27, 2018 I know I sound crazy but I had my vsg Monday 4/23 and today I’m sooooo hungry since I’ve woke up. I’ve already had my Protein Shake, half of my premier clear protien drink, 8 oz of beef broth, and yogurt. Also plenty of Water in between. Why is my stomach constantly growling at me? I don’t feel full or sick after eating any of these items. I can start eating soft foods this coming Tuesday, I just feel like I need something that is going to make me feel a little fuller for a little longer. I so badly want to try softer foods now. 2 Walter.Sobchak and Creekimp13 reacted to this
Orchids&Dragons 9,047 Posted April 27, 2018 I never felt full on liquids. But you're probably not really hungry. You've been attacked by the craving monster. I had terrible cravings for several weeks. But eventually it did die down. 2 Kahkeetsee and sillykitty reacted to this
Sara Bear 2 Posted April 27, 2018 Holy Moly lady! You're already keeping that much down since surgery? #Rockstar For this first week, I struggled with just getting liquids down. Your stomach has just undergone a major trauma. It's in the process of healing itself. This is where mind over body comes into play. If you know you've eating recently and you're getting those hunger pains, I recommend doing an activity to take your mind off of it. Try it a couple times and see if this works for you. I've been there too and so far I have been able to calm the hunger beast. 1 clsumrall reacted to this
James Marusek 5,244 Posted April 27, 2018 At an early stage in our life we began to eat food. When we chew food it releases digestive enzymes in our body that help us digest our food. So sometimes what we miss is the chewing process. 1 Sosewsue61 reacted to this

Your right your crazy - Just kidding We are all crazy we let a total stranger do a crazy, amazing and terrify thing to us and now your body is trying to figure out which way is up, in a manner of speaking. take this time to learn the difference between head hunger - the habit of eating and the hormonal change of the lack of carbs and sugars crashing thru your system at all hours of the day. This process will play out over the next couple of weeks. It is normal to feel hungry, not just now or at this moment but in human history. we are supposed to get hungry. That is the time when your body calls on the stored fat (anyone here got some of that) to provide energy. It is not Natural to be full try to get used to a more natural hormonal reaction to eating then getting hungry a few hours later and then after a bit of that hunger we eat a small meal again then start over. Dam even i cant make sense of any of that i wrote - just know food will feel different and you will feel different just take the time to get to know those feelings now and dont go at them with your old mind set. cbf 42 Posted April 27, 2018 I was hungry too for the 3 rd or 4 th day but it passed. I just kept drinking Water and eating ice pops or Jello. The gurgling noises aren’t really hunger just our bodies adjusting. Give it a couple more days and both will pass 2 sillykitty and morganmary reacted to this
Creekimp13 5,840 Posted April 27, 2018 (edited) "Head Hunger" is when you've already eaten a nice substantial healthy meal...and a Burger King commercial comes on and you want french fries. That's "head hunger" REAL HUNGER is experienced by people eating starvation levels of calories...like we do...for weeks...before and after surgery. It is often especially experienced by people who are healing and using hundreds more calories each day trying to repair their body. When we start calling any hunger..."head hunger".....we're behaving pathologically toward food. It's eating disorder speak. I was fecking STARVING a few days after surgery, too. Could have eaten my leg off. I didn't get relief until I started eating about a thousand calories a day. Hunger sucks. It's real. It gets better:) Edited April 27, 2018 by Creekimp13 4 sssmtx, morganmary, scrappygirl and 1 other reacted to this
Apple203 1,314 Posted April 27, 2018 I agree -- I think the hunger is real. Today I was in the grocery store and I started salivating in the produce department. I thought it was pretty telling. And I can't wait to have an honest-to-god salad. 3 Orchids&Dragons, FluffyChix and morganmary reacted to this

temkins 71 Posted April 27, 2018 you are just a few days out, and you may be drinking too little. This sounds like a thirst - many of us usually tend to mix up a thirst with a hunger. When I feel hungry, my first reaction is to drink as much as possible. If that feeling returns in 30 minutes, I can crave something (within my specific diet, ofc!) 1 morganmary reacted to this
jess9395 5,449 Posted April 27, 2018 I was taught a good rule of thumb is if you are hungry for X (whether X is a burger or an apple) then it’s likely Head hunger whereas if you are hungry and anything (ie something on your plan will do) it’s real hunger. 6 1 GirlShrinking, sillykitty, clsumrall and 4 others reacted to this

[emoji1417][emoji1417]This is one of those things I am thinking over and over in my head about still feeling hungry after the procedure. Have you really thought about and learned what is real hunger and what is Head hunger? How do you manage?
