Please Help! Early Stall

Recommended Posts

So I am REALLY freaking out!!! I had surgery on the 16th and weighed in at 239. I got on the scale today and I'm only 232. I am still on liquids so all I'm drinking is Protein Shakes, Water, Bone Broth and the occasional Popsicle. I also started working out this Monday, doing Pure Barre! Is this normal? I feel like I should have lost more at this point? Anyone gone through this very early on?

I had a stall around 3 weeks. I am six weeks post sleeve and only down 21lbs. I see others are losing much faster, but I guess this is right for me. I have been stalled for weeks now.

I always feel the worst when I compare my rate of weight loss to others. Some people are going to lose faster, some will lose slower. Stalls are common.

Stick to the program, you will lose weight.

Ryan your the walking talking proof that it is not just about calories in calories out.

nothing in and still the pounds resist. Don't Panic (I stole that one from Douglas Adams :) )

Fat loss and the associated weight loss is very hormone driven and right now yours are a wreck from the surgery.

Everyone adjust post surgery at a different rate. and it may not be fair but womens hormones take a bigger hit than mens and longer to adjust (my opinion). learn from the post here but your journey will be very personal and specific to you.

the weight will start to come off as your body heals from the insane crazy **** you just let some crazy man do to you :) .

Work on your health mental and physical and trust that the sleeve will do its job.

stick to the plan given by your surgeon and keep the faith it will work.

YES! I went through exactly the same! I had only lost 7 pounds during the first two weeks after surgery then, I stopped losing. It was driving me nuts because I was still on liquids.

Have no fear. You will start dropping weight if you stick to the plan. There is no way that you won't lose weight if you stick to the diet.

I was super frustrated at first but, here I am at just over 4 weeks out and 32 pounds down.

Hang in there and it WILL happen :)

You have lost 7 pounds in 10 days, that is really good. That is almost a pound a day. My dietician said to expect about 1.5 to 2 pounds a week. Sounds like you are doing good to me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
