So Many Pills

Recommended Posts

I knew that having to take Vitamins was part of the deal of getting the surgery, but there are sooooo many! I mean, if it'll keep me healthy, I'll do it. I'll just complain about it a little lol

I was just thinking about this exact topic this morning. I am taking less prescriptions, but a heck of a lot more Vitamins. I will make that trade off any day, but I would like to have a day when I don't worry about pills and swamping myself with Water. lol

Vitamins are a whole lot different than prescription medicines. Generally-speaking, they don't have the side effects and untold other horrors. I will gladly trade my chewable vitamins for the prescription meds any day and 5x on Sunday.

Oh, try the PatchMD! I was fed up with all the pills, particularly the three giant calcium citrate pills a day. Now with the patch my only pills are 25 mg of Cozaar, omeprazole, Strattera, fish oil, Fiber pills, and Sennokot. And the Patches are only $20 for a 30-day supply!

I end up carrying a baggie with me all day because many of my Vitamins have to be at a specific time (spaced from each other). Drives me crazy... I do REALLY enjoy it when i can stop taking one though....

This is why I switched to a 1x per day capsule that I can swallow. It covers all the ASMBS recommendations. The only thing I take separate, also once per day is Calcium and Vitamin D combo tablet. IMG_2679.JPG.0f22a382f3998a82297fb8df028caa3d.JPG

I have a huge pill thing that divides my pills into four times a day. Once I found a Calcium chewable (bariatric advantge brand) instead of those awful calcium citrate pills I was much happier.

Hell yes to the Calcium chewables Bariatric Advantage has! The nutritionist said the chocolate ones tasted like tootsie rolls and I can't believe they're right.

And I still sing the praises of my Welllesse liquid with calcium citrate , D3. with magnesium. Shimmy shake is amazed. hers taste like Toorsie Rolls, well mine tastes like melted orange sherbet push-up. And I do like the convenience of it.😛🍶

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
