Hi sunshine,

I dont know the calafornia doctors as I am in the uK, I just wanted to say dont be freaked by the forms, they have to cover every eventuality, when you get in there it is over before you know and the recovery is pretty easy really ( though the post-op diet is a b*tch!!!)

Look forwards to seeing you dropping that weight hon!

Hey there,

Yes, Dr. Cirangle did my surgery October 9. It was a great experience. The hospital staff is awesome. They totally put me at ease through out the entire process. I was scheduled for surgery at 7:30am and by 3p.m. I was in the car on the way home. They give you the option to stay over night or go home. I thought I would rather sleep in my own bed.

The consent form is intimidating but they just have to cover all the bases. I have had an excellent recovery. I had my surgery on a Thursday and I was back at work on Monday. The worse part is the bloating but with walking and moving around it will be gone in 48 hours or so.

Dr. Cirangle is awesome. He is not the warm and fuzzy type but really good at what he does. I went it for my follow up two weeks post op and had lost 17 pounds. I was thrilled. He has his patients do 3 weeks of liquids. I won't lie, that got old but the results are worth it. It goes by fast. I am on soft foods now. Man, I never appreciated a scrambled egg so much.

If you have any questions pre or post op please feel free to email me and I will do my best to help. It can feel kind of lonely when everyone around you is eating what they want.

Good luck! You will do great!

Shelby

Shelby:

I'm glad to hear that you went back to work so quickly! I had my surgery today and I'm planning on going back Tuesday. I'm a teacher and tutor so as long as I can use my brain and a pencil or dry erase marker, I should be okay. :)

I also had an excellent hospital experience (Austin Surgical Hospital for the local folks.) Everyone there was caring, efficient and happy, like they actually enjoy what they do! ;) It really put me at ease and made the experience quite pleasant!

I'm having my surgery on Monday too. I know how you feel. I wanted to run after I read and signed the consent form and had to take a quiz to see if I understand what I am about to do. I feel better now that I have spoken to one of my doctor's patients. Good luck. Keep me posted. Milbear

You know I did the same thing, but I had a baby about a year ago so when I went into surgery I thought of exactly what I wanted. I wanted to be comfortable, I wanted to have the anistesiologist to talk with me and not just put me under mid sentence. It was really wonderful. I cried A LOT. I cried in the morning when they washed my belly...I went in on my own... no family or friends went with me. When I woke up I cried I'm So Happy! I'm So Happy... I did shake and was cold, but the staff stayed with me and brought warm blankets. I was in a quiet room and the drugs are really good! so take it easy... now that it's over. I would do it again and again if I had to.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
