:help: Hello People!

I've been rejected by my insurance company once but since then I've been diagnosed with thyroid problems and diabetes, so my doctor wrote a letter and they are sending it to my insurance again. Wish me luck! I can't wait to hear.

Good luck!

I'm new too. I went to a seminar last week. I'm lucky that my insurance covers the surgery. I have told some family members/friends about my interest in the surgery and have been very surprised by their negative responses.

I'm not going to let their opinions discourage me. I need to do this for me. They may like me fat, but I don't like being like this.

I hope you aren't discouraged by the insurance company. Continue trying to get the surgery approved. :D

good luck . i hate to deal with the insurance companies. i went to mexico. so if all else fails and you have to do self pay you can always research mexico. its about 8000.00. well worth it if you can afford it. but, lets hope you can get it done with insurance...... you would be lucky to have your doctor close to where you live..... traveling to mexico is not always convenient. hope all works out for you.......

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
