I usually do laundry when it needs it, lets see that would be Monday, Tues, Wed, Thurs, & Fri, 99% of it belongs to DH.

My washer and dryer are in my bathroom, we have seperate master bathrooms, so the nice thing is he brings his hamper to my bathroom, dumps it in front of the w/d, then I know it's laundry time :)

Well, off to CompUSA, looking for a new photo editing program, my PhotoExplosion won't download with my Vista, as Eileen from NJ thread would say, WTF? The free Picasa from Google doesn't let you chose the size of a picture, therefore, posting a pic on LBT is almost impossible, unless I want to blow out the entire thread, LOL.

Hugs VA girls!

Donna, do you usually ride with DH or do you have a Harley?

I haven't riden mine in 2 years, but DH says if I sell it, he's getting a new one....NOT!

Hey HarleyN, I use picasa....so I won't be able to post to LBT unless the picture is what size? :)

Well, the Harley pic is 662x425 pixels, I usually do about that size. I loved Photo Explosion, but will not work with Vista, I've tried going to their site for download, but not happening.

I also have a program that came with my Rebel, I'll have to try that one.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Pat, the appetite has not been a problem. When I get hungry I drink some creamed Soup w/protein and some Water or surgar free apple cider or Decaf tea and I'm good to go for quite a while. Tummy is doing good too. Steri strips are still hangin' on. Mobility is better and better each day.

I've been cooking, just to illustrate to my DH that it's not going to bother me if he cooks or eats in front of me.

Wow Diane, you are more woman than me!!! (Hi btw, thanks for the link I could not find this place!LOL)

Seriously I asked my dh long before I was approved if he'd be willing to pitch in and do some cooking. He said sure. And he has been making all the meals since I had the surgery. Of course he took 2 weeks of vacation... he had to take it or lose it. So we'll see once work starts back up.

I have to say it is day 8 and I am hungry, and I crave all the stuff they are eating!!! I guess it is hit or miss, I see some are hungry right away and others are not.

Hi Judy, Glad to see you made it here :) It's so funny that you mention being hungry because I had just stumbled and lingered on a forum discussing just that. I acually went looking for a person who used to post frequently and just seemed to vanish. The person is a mid october bandster and the new posts were on a forum all about bandster #*%@!

I've been trying not to think about it too much, but I know that it' going to be inevitable

Oh well...I didn't get this way overnight, so I know it's gonna take some time. I'm guessng (and it's just a guess) that "band happines " is probably around the third fill. With six weeks in between fills, I guess I better learn how to be patient and drink flavored Water when I'm hungry. :ohwell:

When I got really craving something to munch on I used ice chips and s/f hard candy, until it disolved.

Congrats on the band Judy, sorry if I missed it earlier, but did Dr. T or Clark do your surgery?

Diane, PM me or call me and tell me what that post was about.

HarleyN - I ride with Hubby for now - I really want my own but will have to wait on that. Your's is beautiful! Are you really thinking of selling? I haven't been on a ride since befor the surgery - maybe I'll try a short one this weekend with him.

I guess I SHOULD do laundry every day but I just can't bring myself to do it. When I get home from work it's make dinner, do a bit of cleaning, yell at my youngest to get. your. homework. done!, and then I try and read or watch a little TV. Plus - I'm a total homebody so having all the laundry to do on the weekend guarantees a quiet day at home.

Diane - did you get the protien the other day? Was it super expensive? I was thinking the other night about something you just made a comment on - being patient while this band is tweeked for us. Some people around me think/thought that as soon as I was banded I would start dropping weight really fast - like bypass does. I've had to explain more than once that this isn't the way it works. Sometimes I wish I hadn't told anyone. :)

I'm off to see Dr. T in a bit. My two week checkup.

Hey folks! How is everybody?

well, tomorrow I go back to work, I'm just gonna take it easy though. Since everybody there (by now) knows about my surgery, I can almost feel all the eyes on me at lunchtime....and for that matter ANYtime I put something to my lips (even a pencil? who knows! LOL)

Donna, so glad you didn't want anything from the store! I got in the car, started it up, started to read the address of the place and caught a glimpse of: CLOSED MONDAYS :)

so needless to say, I never went:) I figured anything I really wanted to buy, I could find online. but OMG, have you been to the new JC PENNEY'S? N I C E!

So Pat, If you sell your bike are you getting another? BTW, thanks for letting meknow about the pixel size on posted pix to LBT. You know, I always see somebody or another, asking for help with that....Maybe there should be a thread on that. (maybe there is and I was too lazy to ckeck it out first)

HarleyN, I have Doctor T.

May I ask you if the diet seems the same since you first were banded or has it changed to you think?

Nice to see everyone. I'm looking up some sugar-free suckers online. I LOVE those kind with bubble gum in the middle, hoping to find sugar free.< /p>

Hello all.. I am south of Richmond near the North Carolina border... was banded on July 12 07 at St. Marys hosp. by Dr. Elliott with the Richmond surgical group. Have done really well. Have had my second fill and have lost 50 lbs. Am glad to hear of others that have been banded nearby like Mamato 3 by the same surgical group. We are all friends now or a sort of banded family. it is nice to read what we all are going thru and care about each other and our progress. Will be chatting here whenever i can find the time. I run a 85 mile mailroute with USPS and have a 2 year old granddaughter that takes up a lot of my time most evenings..which i am very proud to take time with her. She is the biggest reason I had the surgery, to do more things with her. Hope to post daily here and am enjoying it here. Thanks to whomever thought about a Virginia site.. bye... Brenda/vamaillady

Sometimes reading the posts here make me wonder if some people just weren't mentally ready for WLS and needed more time with the bariatric team psychiatrist. Complaining about the limited drink/food choices early on... blah..blah...blah. The living to eat mentality really needs to go and be replaced with eating to live. JS

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.
