Halloween Candy

Recommended Posts

Anyone else like me sitting here on the internet instead of plowing into the "easy to go down.....Halloween candy" at their front door!?!

I love candy!! When we got home tonight, as always, my son and I poured all of his candy in the floor. We separate the chocolate, the really cool candy, the suckers, and the not so good candy. Now he has 4 neat little bags of candy. I know, it's a little obsessive. I didn't even eat one bite, but now that everyone is in bed and I am the only one up, I am having a hard time not eating a peice.

candy was everywhere at work today. It was hell. I'm on full fluids after surgery and between my pre-op and post-op diets, I haven't had much in the way of sugar recently.

I let two little chocolates from a small package dissolve in my mouth as a "treat". Some treat - I was sick as a pooch and high as a kite.

I licked the rest of them and threw them in the trash so that I wouldn't eat them. (Fearing that simply throwing them in my trash bin, in their package, wouldn't make them unpalatable enough)

I had a goal yesterday on Halloween... that goal was to not eat one thing sweet - candy, Cookies, cake - NOTHING...

My office was full of goodies, of course we had candy at home to give out..

I DID IT!! :whoo:I did not put one thing sweet in my mouth :clap2: YIPPY!

I had a little Almond Joy last night while handing out candy. It wasn't nearly as good as I remember. I did feel a little guilty but am proud of myself for staying away from the Peanut Butter cups!!

(Next year I'm buying candy I don't like - not sure why I didn't think of that this year. Old habits die hard I guess)<!-- google_ad_section_end --><!-- / message --><!-- sig -->

Thank God we don't have Halloween or most of those brands (yet?)

Sounds like an obvious question but what specifically is candy? In Australia, I would divide sugar-laden junk food into three categories. Lollies (sweets?), chocolate and biscuits (or even better- chocolate biscuits).

I googled this but couldn't find an answer. Is a Snickers considered candy or is it called chocolate bar?

To me candy is.....lollipops; chocolate; candy bars (definitely Snickers!!!); jelly Beans....basically anything yummy and good!

I sent all our leftover candy to my husband's office....far out of my reach!!!!

I didn't have anything last night. I made my DH hand it out so I wouldn't even have to smell it. And I also sent some of the left overs to his work and took a bag to mine to be put on the front counter far, far, far away from my desk.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
