My bike ride sucked today....

Recommended Posts

Until I discovered that over the winter, my tires had lost air.

It makes a HUGE difference when your tires that should hold 50-60 psi....have about 20 pounds in them.

Lesson Learned!

Was so glad to try it again after I aired the tires up....was the first time I'd gone for a ride since last fall, and it felt dishearteningly awful with the squishy tires.

With proper air....i'm flying again:) Felt wonderful to go a couple of miles and back. Really enjoying riding my bike again!

What kind of bike do you have? I have a Cannondale Aero 1000 which I basically had fully custom built for me. It's a-coming out of storage today. :)

Mine's a generic older mountain bike that I bought off Craig's list. LOL. It has a bigger more comfortable seat, but is still pretty sporty and fun:) Somewhere, I've got the fittings to hook a dog harness wire to it. Thinking of taking my pooch for a run at the forest:)

Sounds pretty good! The seat on my bike is definitely not comfortable and my ass is going to be sore until those muscles get used to it again. Is your doggy a husky?

Yes:) Huskies are the little ones (40-50 pounds usually)...the Malamutes are the bigger ones (60+).

I have always had huskies. They're weird and fun. They talk. A LOT. LOL.

Not for everyone, though.....you have to really love challenging dog training and fur in your house:)

But yeah, I used to hook three of them up to a mountain bike and just scream through the trails.

These days, I just have one.....thinking about a kick bike!

Huskies and Malamutes are smart dogs too. I've always been more of a cat person but German Sherpherds, Huskies, and Malamutes are absolutely a-okay with me. I don't care for the small breeds as they tend to be needy and whiny.

i've done it with mushing friends. It looks like the dogs are doing all the work, but I promise, it's a hell of a workout. Gets your heartrate right up there:)

Mountain biking is real art in it's own right! They say a road biker will be lucky to be able complete half the distance that they're used to going on the trail. I am not coordinated enough and I have no desire to do trail riding. The road is just fine with me. :-) Keep that one up and those last 22 lbs. will come off you faster than you know.

I forgot one dog breed that I like, the Belgian Malanois.

I'd better not write checks that my body can't cash.

Y'all are inspiring me to pull out my bike, dust it off and take a ride! I love the idea of a dog harness -- Murphy would love that!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
