I haven't tried popcorn, but as to the acid reflux - My surgery was the same day as yours. I got my doctor to put me back on PPIs 2x a day. Once wasn't enough and I was miserable.

The only problem with popcorn is that there is hardly any nutrition in popcorn. It's just a starch. If I want something that would be more on the side of a special treat, I'll at least eat something that is fairly Protein dense. Today, I wanted a treat so I ate 1 chicken tender for dinner. I had a little of Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ Sauce which is a favorite of mine.

I have popcorn on occasion, no issues with it. I have Act II 94% fat free, 15 calories per cup, popped. It's no no guilt way to satisfy that salty crunchy, snacky craving.

I have an old air popper. I'll pop a bowl full and drizzle in a little olive oil and Mrs. dash. I don't eat a ton of it like I used to...but a couple of handfuls hits the spot sometimes:)

I like Skinny Pop as a snack...it does have fat but also a small amount of Fiber and protein...and satisfies the salt craving and the fat is filling ...but I didn't have any until i got past 3 months I think...

I only eat it at the movies. It goes fine, provided I eat it one kernel at a time and stop when I’m full.

I managed to eat three chicken tenders from Wendy’s for lunch. No BBQ sauce, though, I think the high sugar content makes me sick.

Popcorn...yum. I love it and yes, I eat it...but I also eat a high complex carbohydrate and lots of veggies diet that most don’t or won’t do here. I had it maybe about 3 months out and have done well with it. And also, no acid reflux since surgery for me, it was horrible before surgery. I equate the lack of acid reflux to my lifestyle diet. Haven’t had one bout of it and I take no meds.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
