My name is Kimberly I am 47 yrs old and I am a diet pro. Lol I can diet with the best of them, it is that yo-yo that gets me every time. Except this one. In the past 6 yrs I have been to 3 seminars this time was different my head and heart are in the same place. I AM READY .

I started this journey on March 7th this year and am hoping for a surgery date in early to mid October this yr. I understand that my first visit with my doctor did not count, but that is the day I began this new life change. I started following the diet program they gave me the very next day and have not looked back. I dove in head first. I am up to

1 1/2 to 2 hours of exercise 6 days a week with 1 off day. I go in and weigh myself at the office every 2 weeks. I have lost 30.2 lbs as of 4/11. My first group meeting is on 4/25.

I look forward to this new life journey. I have nit decided which surgery I would like to have. My insurance pays for the Bypass and the sleeve. I have time to decided and see what my doctor recommends

I am seeing Dr. Gorsuch in southwestern Michigan.

Welcome! I am similar in that respect. I started the process twice before, but each time felt like I SHOULD be able to do it on my own. This time was different and now I’m 3 weeks away from my surgery.

Welcome to the forums, lots of great people and a wealth of knowledge to be had!

@kimberlymi

welcome, welcome, and welcome:rolleyes:

looks like you are doing great pre-op. one big thing you can practice on are Water rules.

stop drinking 1/2 hr before you eat, don't drink while you eat, wait 30 minutes after

you eat, before you can drink. at the end of the day, always follow NUT/doc rules. he

might give you different time periods, instructions about anything.

keep researching about the sleeve and bypass. info on u-tube and the board.

KNOWLEDGE is POWER!!!

good luck

kathy

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
