Yep. It happens. I am 58 and 3 months post op. Between the yo yo weight fluctuations I decided to stop fighting the hormones, age related spread and having to take awful BP meds that made me sick. I see my face and neck are drooping as the fat melts away, my skin is excessively dry... and, I have a few rolls of skin... won’t mention the breasts... But, people seem to think I look great.. My brain is still processing this sudden drop of significant weight... my clothes are hanging on me.... good problem to have. So, I am lining up a plastic surgeon because once I hit my target weight I desire to cross the finish line in style. That’s being the best version of me that I can be.

Thank you very much and that is so true. I am raising 2 of my granddaughters and they are only 6&8, so yes I need to do it for my health and well being. The skin can be removed if it is to bother me that much.

I am very happy for and wash you the best. I recently went to a support group for individuals starting the journey for the 1st time. Honestly the testimony this particular individual whom had the GVS 9 months ago, was not pleasant listening to. She lost significant amount of weight, but the cons we're not welcoming to hear. She mentioned her hormone we're going crazy and she was very depressed

I had my VSG 7 years ago. When I was fat I had a round face and chipmunk cheeks. After I lost weight, without the fat plumping up my face I looked way older than 56. So I had a face and neck lift in 2013 and I think I look great. I have some loose skin on my body but the only person to mention it is a masseuse, who asked if I had lost a lot of weight. It doesn't bother me so I won't have a Tummy Tuck or anything, but I only lost 98 lbs, not hundreds like some people.

My surgery was the best thing ever and I am happy everyday that I did it. Good luck to you!

My Surgeon said it best . I will do this surgery and its like going to Home Depot and buying a Hammer to fix a wall, This surgery is the Hammer , but if you decide to sit and stare at the wall and not get up and use the hammer we will be nowhere. He said if you are ready to permanently be healthy for good and your body reset to a new healthy you then take the Hammer and get to work this is work. He said I don't believe in dieting, I believe in giving people tools to help them be at their optimum health.

I have lost close to 60 lbs I have another 80 to go. I am 52. I may end up with sagging skin but there are ways to fix that be it exercise or plastic surgery or both. But there is no fixing up and down weight loss and gain your whole life. LOOK at the benefits of being healthy for life , Don't worry about the skin

I don't mind a small tack hammer, but what if weight loss whacks me with a sledgehammer and I look like poundedcsteak when everything is thru? What if I look like something thrown away and not even the garbage man wants me? 🚵

I really truly need this because the up and down weight roller coaster sucks. I went down 13 lbs and gained 11 pounds back. Because I didn't watch what I ate , Portion Control. So now I have to work harder to lose the weight I had already lost. Screw this I really need this surgery. I was just told yesterday I have H palori bacteria and need to get that taken care of. So I am going to keep losing weight by myself and hopefully in October before my 45th birthday I can have the GVS and this tool will help me keep it off. My whole life I've been overweight and I do not remember the last time I weighed 255, my current weight from 300 in December. I wish you all the best and that you for your opinions. It really does help being a part of this support page.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
