One month out I had a few sips of wine when I went on vacation.. but I didn’t go overboard. I definitely felt the alcohol faster than usual... then I had my first full glass of prosecco at 4 months and felt tipsy but was sober in an hour...😂

I was told that would happen. I want a drink so bad but was a little scared to try it lol. Thanks for responding.

How long ago did you have your surgery? My program doesn’t have any restrictions on alcohol (which I don’t know that I agree with). Anyway, you do want to be careful - your new tummy is sensitive, you’ll feel tipsy or drunk a lot quicker, there are a lot of empty calories and (most disturbing to me) there are certain studies that have shown post WLS patients can have a higher tendency for alcohol dependence. Addiction runs in my extended family, so that is something I’m going to be careful and mindful of.

I’d give it at least a couple months and then start with something easier on the stomach. I don’t even know what that would be - red wine ?

Did the carbonation in the procescco bother you ?

I have 1 drink a night usually about 5 nights a week. It is usually Fireball Whiskey, Peppermint Schnapps, Coconut Rum or Wine. I don't get drunk, just a little tipsy. I am aware of the empty calories and the sugar content but I have never had an alcohol problem and never have more than 1.

I thought alcohol was forbidden for a year?! [emoji15]. I’m afraid to even think about it during this rapid wl phase

No, I drank it slowly so I was fine.. although I have tried to drink one sip of a Diet Coke once and the carbonation really hurt even with just one sip so that will definitely be something I never pick up again 😊

6 weeks it was a Christmas party that I was nervous about so I ordered a white Russian. It took over an hour to drink. I've drank a few times in my 4 months. I always order white Russians since my body didnt reject it. I'm a cheap date 2-3 drinks will last 3-5 hours sipping on it. I ordered single shot in a pounder glass. I use to love bloody Mary's. One sip and I wanted to puke it tasted terrible. Haha anyway if you're gonna try anything go less booze bigger glass. Cheers!

Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc about 7 weeks post-op. Did fine, but definitely felt it. Drank mostly brown liquor pre-op, but I haven't felt the need to try that again...yet 😉

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
