scornet1 7 Posted April 20, 2018 I am 4 days out from my RnY and I swear I can smell my own breath. I brush and use mouthwash but I can still smell something unpleasant. Is this in my head, if not will it get worse as you lose more weight?
BostonWLKC 807 Posted April 20, 2018 My husband equated it to death. I still have it somewhat and I’m 4 months out. Frustr8 7,886 Posted April 20, 2018 @BostonWLKC I have the perfect line for the next time he mentions it. Smile sweetly, say "Oh Honey, it's just all my fat dying!"😛 2 Orchids&Dragons and Fluffy Grandma reacted to this
aNYCdb 310 Posted April 20, 2018 (edited) It's a side effect from the extreme ketosis you are going through after surgery. It will get better, after a while once you are able to get to a diet that isn't so exclusively Protein based. My wife commented that she missed the "sweet breath" that you get on a less extreme ketotic diet like Atkins.< br /> The tradeoff with RNY though is that's about when you start having to worry about smells from the "other end of the pipe" so to speak. scornet1 7 Posted April 20, 2018 Thank you. I have heard that ketosis cause bad breath. I didn’t think I would be losing any weight so soon. I am not going to weigh myself until Monday, 1 week out. 1 Lillymunster reacted to this
