Ok, am I the only one getting a little orange banner in the bottom right corner of the screen that says "give feedback" on it?

Nope, I'm getting it too.

And I also remember zipping past a BBW banner yesterday too and thinking, wth??

PJTP...

My DH is on the way home from his business trip to DC and I am so glad!!!! I missed the big lug...

I <heart> my DD - we were out for our morning walk with DDog, and he looked up the street to our left - the side streets in that area go up a steep hill - and then my DD called out - "Are you okay?" Apparently one of the senior citizens in the area who helps open services at the catholic church near our home had fallen on the downhill portion which leads down to the street we walk on (and to the church). She had on a dark coat, and I didn't even SEE her!

My DD went halfway up the hill, helped the lady to her feet and then walked her the rest of the way to the church, helped her up the stairs to the door, and inside the church. We've seen this lady before, and always speak to her - she's really nice. Even the DDog - who normally barks at strangers - didn't make a sound as we walked a safe distance behind them. He's kinda big, so he scares some people.

I was so proud of her I could bust! She did all this without being told - and with today's postings about manners and civility and the lack thereof in society, I wanted to post this wonderful story to show that all is NOT lost - some of us are still teaching our children the right things to do, and some of them are listening!

Side note: DD said she was channeling her dad, my DH, who definately would have done the same thing...the ear-to-ear grin wouldn't leave my face this morning...still hasn't!

Big ups to all the guys and parents out there setting the RIGHT examples!

I was SOOOO tempted, but I refrained. It was prevalent - salespeople; servers in restaurants; airline personnel; even people whom I would thank for holding open a door...everyone responded with 'uh-huh'. My sister (who is no longer shocked/dismayed by this as she lives it every day) commented that perhaps no one knows how to respond to thanks as they hear it so infrequently!

I am comforted to know that I am not an anachronism...it isn't just me!!!

I don't think it's a problem here. When I say thank you, I almost always get a "you're welcome" back. I guess even though Texas is considered wild cowboy land, we still have some manners here.

Ok, am I the only one getting a little orange banner in the bottom right corner of the screen that says "give feedback" on it?

I have it too and I responded that while I loved the content of this site, it's inability to stay up sucked. I also noted that if it keeps on staying down several times a day, I'm a goner.

They are apparantly in the middle of a server change for LBT....so hope it will go smooth. Sucky thing about a free site----not much of a way to complain now is there!!! LOL

Ebony that was a wonderful story---glad you have such a great DD.

Years ago I would drop my DD off at the high school on my way to the Day Care. One morning, right in front of us, the Resource officer of the school was a motorcycle cop, and he swerved to avoid a kid who swung a door open, and laid his bike down. There were no less than 75 kids wandering in and around the area, but my DD and one other girl were the only ones to rush over to him, to check on him, and even attempt to help him pick the bike back up.

2 years later, when she got stopped for a headlight being out, he recognized her, and thanked her again, and only warned her about her light. She still sees him around town, and they always wave! He is now a leutinant with the force....and she graduated 10 years ago!!!

Always makes you feel good when you realize they really DID listen, and pay attention!!!!

Unfortunately, they wouldn't hire me. They said that after seeing you in your "hooters" uniform, no one else would do.

 Good one!

Question: when did uh-huh become the accepted response to 'thank you'? Is this a California thing, or has it infiltrated other regions, but is slow to move north? It is very disconcerting, and unappealing...for each and every time I said 'thank you' to a salesperson, or anyone, the inevitable response was NOT 'You're welcome" or 'My pleasure" or 'No problem'...it was uh-huh.

I'm blanking on how people respond here. The one that annoys me is when people walk in front of you w/o saying "excuse me."

Ok, am I the only one getting a little orange banner in the bottom right corner of the screen that says "give feedback" on it?

I am too.

EbonyRose - I am so proud of your DD and of you and your DH; that's AWESOME and inspiring!!!!! I know you just wanted to bust!

Kat817 - I believe your DD is the beneficiary of some great karma. Do good and ya get good!

I believe I told y'all that I was selected for a mentor/mentee program. My mentor told me that I had called his dept to tell them that they had nothing in their budget for the next year. (I was in a group that managed the entire district's budget.) I then told him that I would just handle it for them. All this time and he's never forgotten. I have no memory of this but this had to have been 5-6 years ago and now he's my mentor! Plus my old boss kinda treated me like crap so it's nice to still have people coming up to me telling me they miss me in my old job. Gloating about their turnover is wrong, huh??? Hee!

PJTP-When you are sick with something contagious, stay at home! I can't stand when people know that they are spreading something (i.e. stomach viruses) and go to work, church, or other places anyway! GRRRR Why do they feel the need to share?

Kat and Ebony you have great kids!

That feedback orange thing is extremely annoying. Some people have said that clicking on things like that will give us a virus.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
