They told me 156 is too low. I feel fine. I have a good BMI, what is the point.

BBK...my doctor was actually happy to see that I had gained a couple of pounds. She was sorry that my medicine made me a raving lunatic that craved sugar like a cocaine addict.

I was NOT happy to see a weight gain. I think you look gorgeous. Now if I could see bones sticking out of everywhere including your ears....I would say too thin. But you look radiant. I think they are jealous!

Dieticians seem to be weird folk. I have had dealings with 2 of them since I got cancer. Both of them were overweight, one morbidly so, and neither of them listens to me. Given that they have weight issues I think that this is pretty arrogant. Given that your BMI is good and you look fabulous I would be inclined to feel comfortable debating your dietician's advice if I were you.

Ah whatever I say. You look fabulous. You are healthy.

They need to be fired.

BBK - Is it weird to have people telling you to gain weight? I think I'd feel reallly strange...for 20 years docs have been telling me to LOSE, and if they ever tell me to GAIN, I'd go a little bonkers.

My goal is 145...and I was thinking that was high. How can they be telling you to gain?

Life doesn't make sense. Are they scared you'll lose too much?

The dietician and the PA. They are nuts.

It seems that "they" can't get their shit together. I told my surgeon that my brother is 6'5", 170 lbs. He said, "he needs to put on a few" but when I look up weight ranges online, he's perfectly healthy for his frame. WTF?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
