I don't want to go back to work tired. A tired boss is a mean boss in my experience.

sorry about more insomnia.... i didnt have it too horribly last night, just kept waking up ... at least i didnt STAY awake...

and its not a bad thing - as long as you're the boss!

LJM - hun...about 7 months out I was no longer the boss...that is when my youngest DD thought it was time to do flips (she was already out of room). Ahhhhhhhh....the memories and working off 2 hours sleep (at a time).

LJM, Leslie - I've been blessed during my pregnancies to be able to 'talk' my children to sleep...

My son was pretty active at first, but he nearly outgrew me! He was 9 lbs, 9 oz at birth - - I used to rub my belly and talk to him before bed and he actually seemed to sleep when I did.

My daughter was a surprise - they thought she was a fibroid tumor and could never find her heartbeat...imagine my surprise when my doctor's appointment turned into "did you know you were pregnant?":eek::eek::eek:

One of the best surprises I EVER got! I 'talked' her into sleeping through the night in late December - told her mommy had to go back to work in January (she was born Dec 7th) and if she wanted to give mommy a Christmas present, to start sleeping through the night. She DID!

She Smiles - would setting up a certain bedtime routine help? Warm milk, cozy blanket, foot rub from a loved one, etc, etc, etc? Here's hoping a restful, restoring sleep is yours tonight and every night

Had to post just to post...:w00t:

I've heard people mention kimkins, but I finally for the first time looked it up the other day. Was a long article that documented timelines, her pic and scams blah blah. Was quite an interesting read. I never heard of it till I heard people complain about it here, and then I still wasn't sure what it was. If any of you didn't know either, I recommend a google. Interesting read and passes the time.

yeah, kimkins really is horrible...

if people dont wanna read about it .. here's the gist:

older woman (late 40s/early 50s) said she lost 200 lbs in less than a year ... she did this by 'water fasting' and 'diet coke fasting' ... all she consumed for months.. when she wasnt fasting, she followed a very low cal (>500 cals/day) no to low carb diet...

turns out she did not lose any weight - in fact she gained... she weighs at least 300 lbs now... she used fake pictures for herself and for her before/after pics... she actually used pics from a Russian bride site...

she lied and really is a horrible person... there is currently a class action law suit against her...

there's more of course, and it really is an interesting read ... i suggest reading about it if you're bored... :w00t:

Aww....congrats on the puppies Luluc - you're a grandma! I'd have such a hard time giving them away. I'd probably get attached anyway. DD's both want a puppy, but our back yard isn't fenced and we aren't getting one until it is.

Do you have a certain genre of books that you read, or do you read everything?

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
