HELLO CLEAVLAND!

So I have a question for all you wonderful people out there: does anyone work in a Union (I'm asking 'cause I'm under my dad's insurance, NECA IBEW local 134) AND has Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO? I'm super scared that I'll be denied because I'm just a dependent. Also, does being in Weight Watcher (currently) help with the six month diet?

I would ask this in insurance, but I tried and didn't get a response. So since everyone looks and posts on here, maybe someone could answer.

PJTP: Yeah, I'm super happy because I just kicked some Dance Dance Revolution butt!! And I'm writing a paper and it's probably the best thesis I wrote in...forever!

I really like carrots..but they tend to be hard for me to swallow so I always end up dipping them in ranch dressing...which isn't the best for you. But steamed carrots are good.

Size 8's are great! Sadly, I haven't been able to say that since 1988 or 1989. Gah.

MommaMac - sounds like someone's off liquids!!!

does being in Weight Watcher (currently) help with the six month diet?

I did the online WW for 6 months to fufill my 6 month supervised diet obligation. Here's hoping your insurance will be as lenient!

It shouldn't make a difference if you are a dependant or the primary holder. If you have insurance, you have insurance.

I had BCBS of Michigan and WW did not count toward the diet requirement. It had to be a doctor supervised program.

At my hospital it is considered a 23 hour outpatient procedure. Yes, you stay overnight but the procedure itself is considered outpatient. I think it is just more of a doctor preference thing as to whether you stay overnight or not.

No, just day dreaming. :-D

If you guys can drool over fried Snickers, then I want to drool over my favorites.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
