What kills me is the BBQ joints they have set up - just the smell adds 10 pounds to my hips. I know I'll have something naughty - but it is only once a year. DD's love the funnel cake too - I may have to have a small bite of theirs when we go (prob. the local fair). The BBQ Ribs - OMG - my mouth is watering! The corn-on-the cob too...thank goodness I can only eat a little bit! LOL

If this South Beach thing didn't work so good, Leslie and I would be at that fair already scarfin' down those lovely funnel cakes. Those joyful delites that melt in your mouth with sweet goodness!

Ok, quick note. January 2, 2002 it snowed in Atlanta. We were living in an apartment up there. My doxie loved it, he kept diving in and out of the snow.

Now, I want a funnel cake!!!!

Why does my lentil Soup not seem as appetizing now?

ROFL --> :cool2:

I've never been anywhere that had this fried stuff, maybe our fairs have it, but I have never noticed it. I always see candy apples and cotton candy. Never seen BBQ at the fair either!

Hm.. I don't know when our fair is coming, I was hoping to go this year.

A quadruple batch goes a lonnnnngggggg way! So, it will be lunch for perhaps the next week. I could alternate and throw in other stuff, but at 430am, the first thing in my hand gets thrown into my lunch bag!

To the Aussie folks: What's "cobber" mean? and when would you use it?

Second Q - How long do lentils stay good? I bought a bag a while back and keep meaning to use them, and never do. Somehow they never seem appealing to the family and they get vetoed every time.

They last forever - I'm assuming you mean the dried ones. So, like any other dried Beans, they will remain good. Ummm, have your family tried them? DH vetoed lima beans until I made a limabean casserole - yummy!

      Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
      1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

        All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

      I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
