I have to agree with that... but I'm not a big ketchup fan. I prefer mustard. (Not on grilled cheese though -- just in general.)

Grilled cheese dipped in ketchup... delicious! You never pour/blob ketchup on food, rather the ketchup is neatly pooled on the side of the plate and the french fry or tip of the grilled cheese sandwich is dipped ever so gently.

omg - i thought i was the only person that did this; since DH makes me feel as such. i use to also dip my shells & cheese into ketchup - but those were pre band days...it "almost" sounds good:rolleyes:

french fries - dip in ranch.

gravy - is "tomato sauce" (grew up in NY - italian g'ma called it nothing but gravy)

the white gravy - not so much a fan, DH counts it as a food group tho.

Yummy - French Fries with Ranch (I attribute 50 pounds of my excess weight to Outback Steakhouse. When I was PG with 1st DD - I CRAVED IT!!!)

As for Food Groups - My youngest DD thinks ketchup is a another food group. She eats it with everything - I mean everything. I have to buy the huge bottles from Sams.

I always liked dipping 90% of things in mayonaisse. Everything tastes better with mayo! Like chicken (on or off the bone), fries, bread, whatever.

I had a friend growing up who ate ketchup like a main dish. She would actually get a burger from McDonalds, and tell them to hold EVERYTHING.. but ketchup.. so it was a bun with a huge glob of ketchup.

wait a minute ... hold everything including the burger patty??

that's different....

btw - mayo bread is what started my weight gain ... when i was 6 or 7 my mom used to feed me 3-4 sandwiches a day of just a thick glob of mayo on it... then 5 years later wondered why i was fat ??? gee - wonder why i dont talk to her anymore... ???

LOL - Growing up we had mayonaisse sandwiches with EVERYTHING. pizza (dad would make a mayo sandwich), Chicken, (may sandwich) Spaghetti - always white bread with a huge dollop of mayo. He still does it to this day. It had to be Kraft too - no other kind would do.

Aren't they sinful (Cheese Fries)? I haven't had them since being banded - OMG I could drink that ranch sauce! We were regulars at Biloxi's Outback. I got hit on one day (8 months pregnant) by a girl in the restroom. Ah the memories!!! She must have been hard up. Only time a girl ever came onto me...lol

$4.00 a box??? WTH? I'll take some Godiva please and lots of it...

growing up my moms favorite sandwhiche was white wonder bread w/mayo & vidallia onion. and she would dip her chips in the mayo, cause it would be coming out the sides...and she was 90lbs wet!! UGH

ruined me, never eat mayo.

re - outback fries, weren't they ranked the highest calorie/fat restaurant food? ? something like 1800 calories for the plate??

All this talk of food is making me hungry.

My daughter puts ketchup on everything. People look at her like she is nuts when she asks for ketchup to put on her pizza. My bf's son is the same way. My bf puts little packets of ketchup in his christmas stocking.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
