Now, now. If all the cool kids jumped off a cliff, would you jump too?

[For some reason I can just imagine my mom saying that. Even though I don't remember her ever saying anything like that to me in real life.]

well... i guess not, but if anything was to happen to my band, i'd probably sleeve.

I too refuse to eat cat.

But I do enjoy me some rooster =)

with or without feathers? feathers are icky and scratch my throat.

These days I think you have to tell them you'll take away their Excel, if you really want to get them to take notice.

GASP - that's not even funny. I love Excel muchly (finance). I was going more for a stereotypical image here, Mac. :) They still use the GAAP book; threatened to set it on fire.

Ok so personal/moral/friendship dilemma - a friend buys you a bday present and you open it later on when you are not with them. You don't like it, its jewellry and its not you AT ALL, you don't think you will ever wear it. Gift giver person said if you don't like it, to tell them (I don't know what the plan was after that - like that they'd exchange it or I'd pick something else etc?). The receipt is (accidently?) still in the gift bag it came in and it was rather expensive. Do you tell them you don't like it??? And if so, how do you approach that?

Thats a hypothetical, of course. But I was just wondering, cos I suck at that kind of thing

If it's a pretty good friend that would notice that you never wear it, I would say something like "it's really pretty but it's just not my style"

and of course say thank you for remembering my birthday.

That's a hard one. My cousin always buys me stuff I don't like and I usually find a way to regift it.

I had a similar problem some years back. But as I was breaking up with the tool I had a vindictive pleasure of tossing it back in his face and cursing him out. I had showed my bf at the time this ring I was saving up for as something I wanted to buy myself. Well fast forward a week of hell, of this tool trying to guilt me/boss me/tell me what/how to live my life and how to be the "proper" girlfriend. Needless to say he went on a 3 day trip for work, when he got back he presented me with the ring I had been saving up for with vows of eternal love *retch* and devotion *retches somemore* I told him to piss off, take the ring and shove it up his ass and that next time he has a girlfriend he might try to relax and let her be herself before she kills him.

He cried .. .boo hoo ...

Ok, your dilema is actually sweet, mine was vindictive pleasure :frown:

When I put the receipt in, that means "you can exchange it."

Thanks for your responses  I think I'll see if they ask about it and go from there. They are a good friend, but we still have a bit of a weird friendship - close in some ways and not in others. Its hard to explain....I find it REALLY strange that they spent SO much money on me though, and if the receipt was left in there so I could exchange it, it probably would have been less confusing for me if they said so? Perhaps??

My husband thinks I should just gracefully accept it and put it with all the other "not me" jewellry I've received over the years....but I feel like thats a waste of my friends money.

Bah!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
