I am in the U.K and the tooth implant will cost £2500.00, but I think they will cost a lot less in the US. When I check around it seems that what we in the UK pay in pounds you pay in dollars. Also the bone in my jaw to which the dentists fix the implant is very thin so he had to add some bone which costs extra. With regard to pain, you do not feel the dentist because he injects you with anaesthetic and you take painkillers afterwards. However I had four implants with two teeth bridged making six teeth in all about a year ago, plus some extra bone, and although this did not hurt my face was very swollen and bruised. I looked as if I had gone ten rounds with Mike Tyson. But at least I do not have to have false teeth which have to be taken out to be cleaned.

Pix,

My husband is without a back molar and we're still waiting on his "replacement", it's either that or a new car or new bathroom. Insurance won't cover it and it's going to be $3,600. I think as long as you don't see it and can still chew on the other side what's the dif! I know I'm a bad wifey, brandyII.

I'm not posting just to post. I am posting to say that we joined a gym last week and I think after working out for 1 1/2 hours tonight I am ready to pass out. This getting healthy stuff hurts!

And on that note.... Goodnight everyone!

My daughter knocked out her two front teeth when she was 7. They weren't even in there very long!

I have thousands and thousands of $$$ in getting her front teeth right. She was too young for implants when it happened. I am glad implants were available when she was finally old enough. She has beautiful front teeth now.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
