Yeah, I was trying to be bitchy, but it didn't come out very bitchy after I read it! LOL

Do you guys think I was bitchy enough?

I thought it had just the right mix..... How about me? I thought I was too bitchy, but she really pissed me off beyond my ability to keep my mouth shut (or my fingers still)!:)

TG: I particularly liked it when you told her to "step off' and "shove it up her darkside". WAY bitchier than what I said! You rock.

Now y'all know why I stay away from OH! Every so often, I let it draw me back in and I'll lurk just long enough to get really pissed off and come back here.

I was going to ask which thread you are talking about. Now that I know it's on OH, never mind.....I don't even bother to read anything over there.

Oh no, it's here. It's the DS thread. (At least, I think that's what everyone else is talking about.)

tread carefully or somebody'll lecture you on how their DS allows them to eat "steak and candy" and still be healthy.

Oh, you must be talking about WasA's thread. That's some funny stuff.

Oh, don't get me started on THAT again. I am still trying to figure out why she's here AT ALL if she's no longer banded, for some time now, and has had revision surgery. Unless she's only here to discourage people from being banded, or to dog those of us who have been. I don't buy that she's here because there's a place for her here in the "life after removal" forum, because while I can see reading/posting there for a while after removal, I can't understand hanging around after a revision.

Anyone else understand that motivation?

Nope - and she didn't answer my question why that board talks SO much about the "Choke Chain / Laff band. I saw her reply to Angelica, and slamming her for working out like crazy. I guess the DS Bariatric surgeons are the only one's in the WLS field that don't recommend Diet & Exercisce as part of Post Surgery......Amazed, she should have posted over in the Complications thread if she want's to spread her word - she entered the R&R and wanted to debate? Don't necessarily think so...

As much as I think people should be educated on the good, the bad, and the ugly of the band, I also think it's pretty obvious why her band failed. Or rather, why she failed her band. After all, we go on and on and on about how the band is only a tool and only works as well as the banded person works it. If you don't get filled to the right restriction, if you don't eat the right foods, if you don't exercise, you aren't going to be very successful in the long run. The band isn't for people looking for the easy way out. You gotta put some effort into it. And to me, that's the best thing about it, because it FORCES you to make those lifestyle changes that we all found a bit too hard to make when we were unbanded, because you go into this (or at least, you SHOULD) knowing that this is on YOU. And to me, being bitter and angry about still being fat after getting the band is completely stupid, 'cause the band can't do 100% of the work for you. That's YOUR failing, not the band, in most cases. So be pissed at yourself, not at your band, and certainly not at people who ARE successful at losing weight with the band. Being pissed and bitter at a completely inanimate object - one that has done it's one and only job of restricting the amount you can eat - makes no sense whatsoever.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
