I hate it when people post just to post.....

Recommended Posts

....like when clearly the post has no relevance or adds no value to the OP's question or concern.

Like this:

OP Question: I am having trouble finding a good fish recipe I like...can anyone help?

Response: I hate fish! Fish makes me gag!

Can someone explain the purpose of this? I mean, if you don't like fish, then why dont you just move on to the next thread? Who really cares what makes you gag or not gag???? I know I don't.

I'm sitting here trying to think if I do that or not before I respond. :(

Part of it is that (especially on long threads) people tend to read the last post, maybe 2 or 3, but won't usually start at the top and work their way down... so they're addressing the most recent poster (MRP?) but not OP. :)

It's the same thing when someone starts a thread on... what... whether mustard or ketchup is better, and 9 posts into it you get "i want this surgery so bad i have no insurance can you please help thanks!"

"i want this surgery so bad i have no insurance can you please help thanks!"

most of the time i see that and they are newbies with 3-10 posts total ... i've given up trying to point them in the right direction.

I'm having a very hard time understanding why three out of four guinea pigs have the first letter of their name capitalized, but the fourth one (cuddles), has the first letter of its name in lower case. Can someone explain this? Isn't there enough trouble in the world without this, too? I just sit here wondering: "WHY?"

very amusing thread

I agree . I just consider a newbie problem. I would be embarrassed if someone looked at my post from JUly 06 to dec 06.

This is great place to rant. Maybe you have helped some people think before opening their mouths. Maybe not.

....can't the same be said of whether anyone cares about a fish recipe?
No, it can't.

Guinea pigs are cute, but I prefer cats. Although, the cats would probably prefer the guinea pigs! :D

It's great that you get them from rescues, though. I'm a HUGE supporter of animal rescue groups. I think everyone should first go to either rescue groups or organizations such as the Humane Society before looking at breeders. You can find some amazing animals that people just toss away. I bought one of my cats from a local veterinarian (he'd been abandoned and I only had to pay for his first shots), but I've rescued the others. One showed up out of the blue at my dad's clinic, one was a feral that we trapped at my parents' house, and the other is one that someone had abandoned as a kitten at the city dump.

yeah we got our last 2 from rescues. we might be going to get a cat or a dog from the spca soon. my last cat that had to be put to sleep was a stray kitten that we found under a pile of logs. my gf is an animal nut. put it this way we has a hamster we spent 300$ on trying to get healthy to only have to put it down. :cry

I'd have to respectfully disagree with you Wheetsin, that's when they ask what is a PB. :D

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
