I hate it when people post just to post.....

Recommended Posts

I'm not understanding the need to take anything to PM instead of leaving public where it all started.

This is a public site - correct? A group of people having had the same procedure (oh wait - not everyone has - make that having had, thinking about or having been revised from same procedure) talking to each other about whatever they want.

Within said public site, this is a thread with the description of posting just to post which seems identical in meaning to the forum in which it belongs - in case anyone has forgotten here is the forum's description:

Forum for general conversation, share interests, have a laugh or discuss anything not specifically related to banding or the LAP-BAND®.

That's all I've witnessed here save the unprofessionalism of those (one in particular) supposedly moderating us.

I will not take something to private that was brought out publicly - who are you to suggest I do otherwise- you have had no interaction with me ever - why start now.

I am now embarrassed that I have sent more than 15 people here from my private life within the last 6 months due to their having or contemplating lap-band - no I did not do it through a link so as to get credit or have it logged somewhere. It was because I used to think this was an amazing place to come, get support, give support and enjoy a shared kinship w/ others across the country - world actually.

You should be ashamed of yourself and the way this site has changed.

Please inform your mod's that I am no f'ing follower - a friend - one that you will probably never have the joy of knowing - your loss!

I agree Lulu that's when I left LBT.... No one was to be found and yep that's where I had to go to get help as well. I have done the report a post before and finally gave up.

Mods taking the personal issues to FB is bad.. Not only that as Lu pointed out that is also where I had to go to get a mods attention recently.

Welcome back then  I take it you're back now ?

Mods review and discuss EVERY reported post. We have mods from the left to right wing, usually the correct decision is made.

That's not to say that mods aren't human either. They definitely make mistakes. To error is human, right ? I agree that it's not the best idea for mods to take personal LBT issues to FB (if the gripe is publicly accessible for all to see.) If I'm not mistaken, it's no longer available.

So I hope all is settled and we can all live happily ever after on LBT....

Actually Alex - not everyone can live happily here because of the poor decision of your mods - someone was forced out - and I publicly challenge the way in which you seem to be aware of how that came about.

and re th statement of everything hopefully being settled and people living happily ever after..... how dare I be chastised in such a manner with that load of crap - it is degrading and pathetic.... I can't believe it.

(please note this is not a personal attack - I am refuting your message not you)

What is all this about being a "follower" all about? And if you're so positively bent on all your situations being made public, then I'd think you could tell me directly that you are "no f'ing follower - a friend - one that you will probably never have the joy of knowing - (my) loss" instead of asking Alex to tell me.

KC, nobody was forced out initially. Somebody broke some rules, was given a temporary suspension, signed back on under false accounts numerous times to post egregious remarks and then was permanently banned. But thanks for calling my decision-making "poor".... I guess we should totally let members say that other members have sex with dogs and cows.

I'm ok w/ that. :frown::biggrin::wink2:

Well ya know I try to never give honest answers on here (per your implication), but I'll make an exception just this once. The two sites aren't linked. Unless you're "friends" on fb then nobody will know here what you say there. As for punishment, I guess the only standards are libel & slander (I can never remember which is spoken, and which is written)?

Really I must have had too much wine in the 5oz cuz I don't remember that part (giving honest answers) I think you're most about sexual comments but w/e floats yer boat... Are we able to put mods on /ignore except for Pm's when were being bad? If not you might wanna back off on your harrassment and giving such notice to girls appendages.

I have posted a notice on FB that if you're an LBT member and you're offended by what I have to say unfriend yourself if I missed you because that is my real name and its a personal page I should of never let others join and I will keep it that way.

Hello? Wasa... who's she sleepin' with around here? Lawdy, she makes some people look like church leaders.

She was a lil much.. She tells it like it is. I wasn't a fan but I had her on /ignore like MOST adults would do if they had any smarts and move on.

What all she said.

For what it's worth, I think ANY mod that starts acting so personally with people should step down. This is not anything personal against anybody specific here, though it DOES pertain to somebody specific.

If a mod cannot get personal, s/he has no business being one. Period.

I can't even agree with you more. ABSOLUTELY ridiculous that MANY people from here are friends with SUSAN on FB and saw her snotty ass comments on FB about Glouc and no one had the guts to point it out but me. Horrible, unprofessional, childish, rude.

I'm not understanding the need to take anything to PM instead of leaving public where it all started.

I think too many people here are upset about the lack of modding going on and when it does... it's them blowing up at people and then deleting posts to make it appear in their favor? I mean seriously I can't totally blame Alex seeings how there is 1 of him and his mods don't seem to have their emotions under control. It's a rollercoaster for all of us... but seriously ... check it at the door.

You're right Alex its no longer available because I am not afraid of susan and her power hunger. I immediately called her out on the post on FB. I didn't tolerate it. After many LBT members posted to her that she was being stupid she deleted it. That's convenient right? Anything can be fixed with /delete eh? Even on threads here? Are you alerted when she posts mean things to people then removes them?

She has done it.

Plain - let me start by saying that I have really enjoyed your presence on LBT - you crack me up actually and have looked forward to the playful sparring. I do not know exactly what part you had in HH's departure which I have issues with - I have enjoyed keeping that separate from joking with you - I can separate people I know who don't get along.

If you are truly unaware of where the issue with being a 'follower' has come from then it doesn't pertain to you (but to someone it makes a lot of sense)

I am bent about things being public tonight - that's what I did - made it public - you responding means you were made aware. Public and direct are 2 different things.

Now as far as my statement about not being a follower but a friend suffers from very poor sentence structure - the first half pertaining to the mod who called me a follower and the latter half to Alex who all of a sudden comes in to try and settle the waves way too late.

I am going to step in and defend myself. I cannot believe what is going on here. Yes, I was slammed in a thread and got tired of seeing all the complaints going on over the moderator team deciding to ban someone. I had worked about 70 hours that week putting on a major event at work, and ended the week with the flu. So, as I admitted then, I was a bit on edge. I am a human being, we all are. My statement on Facebook never mentioned anyone's name. NEVER! It said I wish people would quit whining and have another glass of wine. As soon as I posted it, I realized I shouldn't have, even though I didn't in any way, shape or form indicate who or what I was talking about. I deleted the status within two minutes of posting it. I told Alex about it as well.

Now seriously, is that what this is all about? Because, it really seems blown way, way out of proportion to me.

1) The post Susan made wasn't publicly available on FB, it was only available to her FRIENDS. There's a very big difference. I have no control what LBT mods discuss with their friends on FB.

2) Wasn't the posts deleted from FB anyway ?

Maybe we should all go grab a glass (or container for a few of us) and just move on to something a little more constructive ?

I will not take something to private that was brought out publicly - who are you to suggest I do otherwise- you have had no interaction with me ever - why start now.

I'm sorry to inform you but we do have rules that ALL members must abide by.

Here they are for your bath room reading pleasure:

The basic ground rules for discussions on LAP-BAND® Talk are simple: be polite, use common sense, don't break the law and don't post any message that even hints at advertising.

We don't intend to censor messages based on the opinions expressed within posts, but we will enforce the policies outlined both here and on the Forum. We reserve the right to remove, modify or move posts at our discretion and without explanation. Please contact us if you do not understand any of the rules, guidelines or policies outlined below.

Although the administrators and moderators of LapBandTalk will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners of LapBandTalk will be held responsible for the content of any message.

By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are hateful, threatening, or otherwise violate any laws.

Suspension of your account is a definite consequence of not adhering to these guidelines.

Posting Guidelines

1. Everyone has a right to speak regardless of their perspective.

2. We take the "Be Polite" rule very seriously. We do not tolerate any rudeness. Any member who is intentionally unpleasant or disruptive may be banned without warning.

3. While we believe in free speech, keep in mind that this right is not absolute. Dissent is an essential part of any discussion where people are encouraged to express varying opinions; however, it is equally important to maintain both decorum and topicality as related to LapBandTalk.com’s mission.

4. Obscenity and pornography will not be tolerated. If that’s what you’re after, there are plenty of places on the Internet to find it, and this forum isn't one of them. Please make sure all opinions are expressed without being obscene or offensive.

5. Members will treat each other with courtesy and respect, especially when they disagree. We understand that bright, intelligent and educated people may not always agree, but personal attacks in the form of insults, abusive language or other means of obvious harassment will not be tolerated.

6. Our focus is on LAP-BAND® Support. While any discussion is subject to going off on a tangent, we will do our best to consistently maintain topicality. Editing, moving or deleting off-topic content will only occur when it’s necessary to redirect focus to the core topic(s) and values of this community.

7. Don't report other people's experiences as truth. Share your own experiences, thoughts, opinions, theories at will.

8. Please take the really personal discussions to PM or e-mail.

9. Direct marketing or selling is forbidden on LBT. Members may use their signatures to indicate a commercial affiliation by including a single link to a web site of their choice, with no more than one line of explanation in addition. This signature text is not to exceed the default font size of forum posts (size=2).

Recommendations or reviews of physicians, facilities, products, or services are welcome if based on the reviewer's personal experience. The reviewer must have no financial interest in the subject being reviewed. Violations will result in the posts being removed and a possible permanent ban of membership.

10. You are permitted a maximum of one account/username, active or inactive. If you choose to ignore this important restriction, all your accounts will be disabled. If you require a user name change, please click here. If you have forgotten your log in details and are unable to retrieve them via the system, do not create a new account, please contact us. LAP-BAND® Talk allows one account per member and one member per account.

11. Cross-Posting is not allowed here. Cross-posting refers to posting new duplicate threads or posts, or the linking to threads or posts already started by the member with the intention of gaining exposure.

12. We reserve the right to respond to violations of these guidelines by blocking and/or banning members from this forum.

13. When you post to this forum, you offer to us a royalty-free, irrevocable, perpetual, worldwide right to use your content as we see fit. We may use, distribute, display and/or create derivative works from this content, in any and all media, in any manner, in whole or in part, without any restriction or responsibilities to you.

14. Members accept all responsibility for their words. This includes any personal information a user chooses to make public. All members understand that forums may be viewed by non-members. This forum cannot be responsible for the distribution of any information intentionally posted by a user.

15. When using this forum, you agree that we cannot be and are not responsible for the truth, completeness, objectivity or usefulness of any user-generated content, nor do we endorse any content, including, but not limited to, postings or replies to postings made by members who are moderators.

16. We do nothing to verify member identities. You assume all risk in your use of information from other members.

17. While we reserve the right to do so, we do not pre-screen, monitor, edit or review member-generated content. However, we may monitor content and remove it at any time and without notice. We will do this if content violates these guidelines or we believe it will improve our community. We also will suspend or terminate forum access to those individuals who violate these guidelines.

If you have a concern about any post, alert the moderators by using the Report Bad Post button. It's at the top of every post (the exclamation point in the triangle)

Who am I to suggest that you follow the rules ? I know you're intelligent enough to answer that question on your own.

You should be ashamed of yourself and the way this site has changed.

LBT hasn't changed, it's still a cornucopia of amazing knowledge and many supportive members. I go to sleep with a big smile every night knowing that people are being supported through my hard work.

Please inform your mod's that I am no f'ing follower - a friend - one that you will probably never have the joy of knowing - your loss!

Your (writing) style is very combative, I'd relax and take it down a notch.

I will no longer discuss this topic any further if it's not via PM. I would appreciate the respect of having you do the same please.

well when a ton of your friends come here and read it and then go to FB you know. No one told me who it was.. Guess what yep it was me I said hey Glou SUSAN is talking smack about you wth!! It was that obvious. Do you notice thats about when I came back to LBT? I was like omg what is goin on and came back. sad sad sad..

It was well over 2 minutes.. I know I posted it in a private forum about it ... Then I went back and 3 others commented to you. I think I even came here and said something.

You have got to be more professional. You can just have a bad week and ruin other peoples day.

You want to be a mod but you have to be much more diplomatic.

Like I said a doctor running to church and asking an entire room to pray for someones illness when they havent announced what they had.

You know what Plain - I am sure having to go back and explain myself a lot - probably the rum - but I'm ok with having to do so - it tends to solve problems from continuing down a bad direction (sometimes)

I do have issues with HH being banned - but maybe not in the way it seems from my post - you see I understand that he broke rules and may have indeed behaved badly (although the receiving end of badness deserved it in my book) my problem is that:

1 - I miss him (yes someone who I had a public outburst with on this very same thread)

2 - There seems to be a miss-communication regarding any corrective communication/action being taken before suspension.

So yes I don't like the decision that he was gone and I am calling it poor b.c that's how I feel. If you had a part in making that decision then sadly you have saddened me - I am not maliciously calling you a bad/poor decision maker - I am not making this personal - which you seem to have taken it.

I say again that I enjoy you here and FB - in this specific issue we disagree and I happen to be angry tonight

I have the capacity to get by this - the question is do you?

I am going to post the copy paste of SUSANS STATUS:

Whats susan deal with her status?

I am sick and tired of people whining about something that they have no clue about it. Get over it, move on and find something new to bitch about. Go have another glass of wine and chill.

One of you upset her again? lol

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
