Lu I would not go permanent plugs either, even the Dr. I work for seldom suggests permanent. Patients think it is to keep bilking them for money, they do not realize that your body changes! Medications given for different issues can cause that to change as well, and then there you are with the plugs being permanent. Weight change affects the plugs, can allow them to be flushed out with a big loss, not sure how it would affect a perm. one. Not something I would have either!

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts about a job! I am a CPA but prefer to work in industry as an accounting manager / controller. I did my time at an accounting firm and don't want to go back. A small CPA firm that consults with people who don't know accounting is ok, but I do not want to do audits again.

I also sell Premier Designs jewelry on the side, but that has slowed down some too. Lu, you probably cannot turn around without hitting someone that sells Premier since they are based in Dallas. It's a great faith-based company with well-made jewelry at decent prices.

Tomorrow I have my physical and that is the last thing I need to submit my application to the state of NC to be approved to become a foster parent. It will take 6 - 8 weeks for them to process and then I could get a call! I have set the room up for two siblings and the social worker says that she would recommend only girls for me since I am single. I've been working on this since May. I cannot believe I am almost at the end of the process!

Off to the treadmill.......

Hey Suzy!

WTG on becoming a foster mom! That's so cool! And I admire those who can do that. I don't have the... I don't even know how to word it. I guess I wouldn't want to let any of the kids go once I've got them! It would break my heart!

We adopted DD when she was an infant so I understand the paperwork and hoops you have to jump through. We had to do the whole nine-yards b/c in CA you are considered only the foster parents til the agency/State release control after 6 months. Even tho it wasn't a fost/adopt that's how they play it here. Like it's a 6 month trial period in case we change our minds (like bloody hell!) or the agency "finds" something or whatever. In our case the 6 months was also used to terminate the unknown birthfather's rights in court.

PJTP: I feel like crap. Literally. I got stuck on my shake this AM. Switched to hot tea and it's been going down but taking a lot of time. Strange b/c I was able to eat/drink just fine last night. No problems other than what happened at lunch yesterday. I'm freezing too. TMI ALERT: I just got thru retching everything that did manage to get thru my band. I've been gurgling and some stuff has gone thru but it all just came up and I couldn't stop for a minute, even after there was nothing left.

I slept til 10 this AM and yesterday and today both, had awakened with a sore throat, still sore. I'm thinking I'm coming down with something and that's why I'm having problems. Scared now to even try the tea. I don't want to start retching again.

Shaky and light-headed too. I decided to do a couple of loads of laundry so I don't have to do it ALL when I get home. Started packing too as this is our last day. (We head home tomorrow. DD and I should be back at our house by Sunday.) But I have to be careful when I stand up too fast. Have to sit down before I fall down kind of thing. Was feeling okay, not great, so I went ahead and started the laundry but now I'm feeling worse. Otherwise I wouldn't have started it yet. I'm waiting for the last load to dry and once it's put away, I'm going back to bed. It's gotta be warmer in there. I hope!

Mom took DD and a bunch of them went off to some viewpoint somewhere to see some of the big peaks. When they get back Mom and Step-Dad are going to hook the bike trailer up and take DD on a ride. She'll enjoy that and I can sleep more.

Okay. I'm going to go check the dryer and hope it's done so I can go back to bed. See ya!

Ok, so I had to go back and get some of the posts that I didn't get a chance to reply to earlier...

* slim, i have a 117lb lab that climbs into bed w/me during storms & he likes to lay sideways....

* construction crew here, demo'ing the master bath - why on earth do folks put wall to wall mirrors all over the place????

You understand then! Your dog weighs about as much as DS!

re the mirrors-I agree with Glou. If I looked like you, there would be mirrors lining every surface in my house!

Slim, I'll be praying for you! I keep hoping things turn around before anyone notices I'm still here! I'm the main bread winner, but it would still hit us hard. He's not 100% safe, either, so we're both nervous. More layoffs are rumored to come next week here. And next quarter, too, if this one doesn't put enough money back into "their" pockets.

praying for you too!

AWESOME for DS!!!! DD's progress has all A's except for 2 D's. I'm not sure what happened there, but we're working hard to pull that back up.

You wanna send the cutie DS to Houston for tutoring?

ready to send DS your way...just say the word. :w00t:

:w00t: Good luck! We're all pulling for you.

WOOT-WOOT!!!! You go girl!!! You SO deserved that recognition!!! :w00t:

i agree!

You do damn fine on your own, woman - but no reason for low self esteem - cut that out now! Please. And, thank you.

ditto!

Me, too! I just get "icked" out when I think of what's on those handles.

Too scared to touch it... :(

Ditto - and praying the the job markets pick up all the way around! SOON!

Ahhhh...what a sweetie!!!!

Morning all!

re: insurance - they have 4 years to make all that money now, right? bastages...:smile2:

I agree!

re: mirrors - If I looked like you, I'd have wall to wall to ceiling mirrors everywhere.

Exactly!

i have turned into a bit of a germaphob due to DH's obsession w/it. god forbid if we're out and i cross my leg and the bottom of my shoe grazes him......now that i think about it, that's probably the maddest he'll ever get w/me.

I am that way about feet touching me. ick!

i should buy clorox stock - i have one of of those tubs in every room.

I need to buy more wipes and put them around. DS and DH already bathe in the antibacterial gel. They both complain about perfume being too strong, but they will both walk around smelling of old ladies with that on their hands.

Golly. I am my grandmother.

ha!

Guess I'll have to be patient with myself...not my strong suit.

I'll just keep following the bandster rules, work on getting off the meds and keep that as my focus. Everything else would be gravy...

You can do it!

BB......wierd noise in the yard!!!

What was the noise?

* ktork, sorry about the insurance debacle....i had seen a PBS special on insurance companies. they are going back and reviewing MANY if not all claims paid on their clients to find loopholes to recoup those monies. specifically as it pertains to pre-existing conditions. very disturbing, but very much happening.

Unbelievable - b/c they haven't sucked enough money from us already?

* construction crew here, demo'ing the master bath - why on earth do folks put wall to wall mirrors all over the place????

self-absorbed porn stars?? or maybe to make the space look better?

WOOT-WOOT!!!! You go girl!!! You SO deserved that recognition!!!

thankee!!! Plus as I told you earlier, I may have found $1M in budgeted dollars for the boss today!

You do damn fine on your own, woman - but no reason for low self esteem - cut that out now! Please. And, thank you.

Not on the man front, missy! :smile2:

Ditto - and praying the the job markets pick up all the way around! SOON!

Amen!!! As I'm sure you all know, jobs are the last economic indicator to rebound. Let's all just keep our fingers, toes, and eyes crossed for a quick rebound.

i prefer lemon as well.

me too!

re- public bathrooms; i worm my way around using my elbows & feet......then squirt purell in my hand. i know it's not good to use those items too much - but after an oprah show that said the sinks in public bathrooms had more cooties than the toilet - yeah, grossed out.

I'm not surprised! I always open the RR door at work with my upper arm (by leaning into it). We've just transitioned into an *almost* touch-free RR; the soap is definitely less harsh than what we had before!

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts about a job! I am a CPA but prefer to work in industry as an accounting manager / controller. I did my time at an accounting firm and don't want to go back. A small CPA firm that consults with people who don't know accounting is ok, but I do not want to do audits again.

I'm surprised you're having such a tough time. I know after the whole Enron mess, accountants were in major demand. I'm in finance but would shoot myself if I had to do sarbanes-oxley/COSO paperwork! (If those are synonymous terms, pls don't bust me out!)

Tomorrow I have my physical and that is the last thing I need to submit my application to the state of NC to be approved to become a foster parent.

That's great, Suzy!!!

Oh Slim - I thought to ask one of my gf's if her son's school taught cursive and they did/do. I think he's in 4th grade now?

I wonder why they don't do it here then. They just expect them to pick it up? WTH? I have to wonder if it was just his elementary because the teachers write in cursive at his current school, and I can only assume they expect them to be able to read it.

Okay, this is NOT from personal experience...If you are lonely, go into room with mirrors on all 4 walls. Then, you are no longer alone and BEST part - none of those other beotches look better'n you...

Ok, I am trying my first multi-quote here...... be gentle with me.

That was my first thought too.

Yup, me too.

That's great, Suzy!!!

I lost part of that one..... I quit public accounting (like Arthur Anderson / PriceWaterhouse) when Sarbanes Oxley was just starting -- too many new regulations for me. I just want to be able to post the entries and make sure the financial statements are correctly presented at the end of the month.

I'm not really sure that I am going to be ok with giving a kid back to a bad situation, but I guess I'll cross that bridge if I get there. I keep telling myself that I can give them the best that I can offer while they are here and hope that that will impact their lives for the better, even when they move on. Part of this is selfish, I have never married and do not have any kids, so I thought this would be a good solution. Parents are not quite on board, but hopefully they'll come around.

It worked!! Ha!! Cool!!

Thanks. I hope so too. And please, spray as much as you want. I don't want to infect anyone!!

Hope you're not getting the flu!

Me too! Not so worried about H1N1 except that my DD is 3 and that's one of the age groups (under 5) that "they" are worried about.

Good job, Suzy! I  multi-quote!

Nite all

'Night!

PJTP: I can't keep anything down for long as of yet. In the last 5 hours or so it's only been 3 times but I'm barely sipping any Water too. Just taking it easy. The fam is all over at the other house so I'm here by myself. Slept for over an hour this evening. That was nice. Kind of sucks to miss our last night together but I don't want to share my cooties either!

Little nervous about what's going on. I hurt. Band, stomach, port, all hurt. Trying not to scare myself. I'm also running fevers off and on with the chills. At this point, as bad as it sounds, I'm hoping for a flu bug vs the alternative which is band problems.

I'm shutting down soon and probably won't be back on til late weekend. Hope y'all have a great weekend!

'Night!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
