PJTP: WhooHoo!! Great news! DH's truck was a simple fix. One of the battery terminals wasn't making a good connection. AND talked to my mechanic tonight and they tore the transfercase open and it's only a little seal ring that broke! No major anything! In fact he said that it looks great and there doesn't seem to be any major wear on any of it. There is a kit that he's going to pick up tomorrow to make sure that seal ring doesn't break again. Apparently this can be an ongoing problem. Don't know how much it's going to end up costing us but it's NOT going to be the several thousands that I was thinking! So happy!

*g4e, glad to hear the job is going well. Hopefully hours will get better. I'm really sorry about the ER trip. I guess it's good to know where you stand for sure but I can't understand why you can't get some help w/out having to fork out money you DON'T have!

*Fanny, I love the little Silvereye pic too. Was that an adult? He's so tiny! And he looked quite comfy sitting there!

*Plain, glad you're back! Where'd ya go? Are you up for a road trip to Lu's next summer?!

PJTP again: My b-day is at the end of the month and DMV sent me a nice letter informing me that it was time to go get another pic taken and get an updated license. Oh Yea! Nice tho b/c I get to reset my weight. The last time I did this I'd gotten down to 190 then went right back up again. Well, tomorrow I get to tell them that I'm 180! Made an appointment so hopefully I don't have to wait forever to get this taken care of. Drive time will take the most time. It's 1/2 an hour one way. Way better than having to drive to the city tho, that's an hour each way! AND smart me made the appointment for when DD is at preschool so I don't have to try to wrangle her while taking care of this! I adore :) my DD but there are just some things that are easier WITHOUT a 3 year old in the midst!

Have a beautiful night all and I hope your Tuesday is just as wonderful! TTFN!

Yes, that was an adult. They are very tiny birds - only 10cm (4") from beak tip to the end of their tail and probably only stand about 1.5 - 2" high. Chris's parents feed all the birds regularly to encourage them to come, but they put the feed for the Silvereyes inside an ordinary budgie/canary cage. The tiny Silvereyes just slip in and out between the bars as though they weren't there. It works really well to keep the bigger birds out, so the little ones keep coming. I'm going to use that trick at my new house WHEN I eventually get there. I have big plans of planting lots of native flowering bushes too, to encourage the native birds. We have so many beautiful birds here, even in the city suburbs.

G4E, I'm so sorry to hear that your back is not getting any better and that your health system seems to be letting you down. I really don't understand why your health system has so many loopholes and barriers within it, that make it so difficult for ordinary people to get decent coverage and decent help when they need it. As an outsider, it really does seem to need a major overhaul.

Hi - all! Took vacation from work, so am SWAMPED for now...just dropping in to PJTP.

SMS - I had similiar situation. DH was team "lead" and there was one woman who went to HR. He wasn't the boss and there isn't a policy against it, and actually the boss knew about us and encouraged it. But, the Big B who went to HR threw a little fit and HR told me I had 90 days to find another job. I transferred across town for 9 months, then transferred back in October last year - and the Big B threw another fit. But this time I was in another department and she went to my current boss and tried to talk him out of hiring me. She said I'd just be down in DH's office all the time. (She also said this to a co-worker, who is my friend, and she was told by my friend: "I don't care if Gloucester goes and F***s him all day long, as long as her work is done." Ah, if only I could have seen her face!)

Come to find out that before we started dating, a few years back her brother (who works here as well) tried to talk DH into asking her out. So, then it became obvious why she was so "concerned".

Those are the people who smile to your face and then stab you in the back.

Those are also the people that better cross the street if they see me outside of work because I will rip her a new one if given the chance. I hate that kind of stuff. I went to her once and asked her what her problem was and she lied up and down about it. But, I knew, because 1) I'm not dumb, and 2) I have friends here who tattle. :)

Gloucester, I hate people like that! Karma is a good thing though.

Plain, welcome back.

Beth, keeping my fingers crossed for you for good news on the interview.

Fanny, the bird photos were absolutely beautiful. You are amazing with the camera and I always enjoy seeing the pictures you post. But, I do have a question about your avatar. What exactly are you doing in that picture? You look great, and like you are in the throws of passion, lol.

@luluc re "fanny, great pics - how close are you able to get to those birds?"

Thank you! Those were in the courtyard right outside the kitchen window. I was outside, sitting quietly on a chair and they were probably less than 15 ft away. I have a really good zoom in my new camera though.!

great shots from that distance.

i would love to get into photography, dh got me a reasonable entry digital for bday to play around with - see if i really enjoy. i just love the wildlife around you!

Good morning everyone.

Plain glad your home.

Yes fanny our health care sucks for the under-insured and people with no insurance. I am going to the family chiropractor tomorrow. He was dad's and mom's, he is my DBIL's and my DB has used him when he has been visiting. My DBIL and DS is paying for the visit. My DBIL called and talked to him and told him what was going on. The chiro. said he can at least give me some relief. he is cutting DBIL a deal. I am greatly apprecating this. But I feel guilty because they are having a really hard time also. I have figured out the amount of money I need to pay all my bills (including catching up) and to go see the ENT and the Back specialist (doesn't include food and gas). I only need for the month $1943.00. This doesn't include needing freeon in my car. If I add in everyone I owe money to it is $2843.00 Not fun without air in the summer! Boy I need a rich uncle right now! lol

Everyone have a blessed day.

Fanny, the plans you have for your backyard sound absolutely beautiful!!! Your silvereye sounds small like our hummingbirds. I also saw some itty bitty birds this afternoon landing on my zucchini leaves to get bugs. Not even bending the leaves down they were so small and weightless! Not sure what they were tho. Maybe my DH knows.

Hi - all! Took vacation from work, so am SWAMPED for now...just dropping in to PJTP.

Hi Glouc!!

I am going to the family chiropractor tomorrow.

g4e, I sure hope the chiro can help you. At least a little relief would probably be huge at this point. I'm sorry you need so much right now. I sure wish I could help somehow and make it all go away. Cold comfort, I know. Sorry.

PJTP: Went to DMV this AM and got that taken care of. Found I had a VM on my phone [don't get good service over there] when I got back to town. It was my mechanic and my truck is done. I went over to pay for it and it was only :) $340!!!! It's still a lot of money but I truly was, until yesterday, thinking it was going to be several thousand dollars. So I'm actually happy with the $300!! We'll pick it up tonight after dinner.< /p>

DH went in to work today for a few hours to cover the engine for his captain-partner. He had a board of supervisors meeting he had to attend for the Department. When the BIG chief asks you to cover for a few hours and tells your partner he's going, you kinda need to do as he asks. Truly he could've said no and nothing would've happened, tho it might have been remembered later but it really was no big deal for DH to do this. We only live 10 minutes from the station and didn't have plans for the day and he is getting OT for it so the $$ will come in handy.

And it's an important meeting re: a drowning we had a couple of weeks ago. It's a dangerous area and the crew has been working w/out proper equipment during these rescue/recoveries. All they have are ropes to tie into anchors, no PFD vests or helmets even. Several people are injured up there every year and there's always at least one death, hence the "recovery" statement.

Anyway, they're NOW looking at more equipment and training for the crews and the family of the kid has questions and wants answers, so it's important.

DD's hungry again. BBL!

Plain, welcome back.

Thanks, I had a blast.

Do NOT do anything to get Fanny to change her pic!!! I currently have that very pic blown up to poster size, and it hangs on my wall. Creepy? Maybe.....don't y'all judge me!

PJTP: I have 5lb to go to get to the 100lb lost mark!! I'm so close I can taste it!! I've been back on Optifast for the last couple of days, because I just couldn't seem to stop myself snacking when I had "open license" to eat from the cupboard and fridge. I plan on sticking to the Optifast plan (1 shake for breakkie, 1 shake for lunch, 2 cups cooked veges for dinner) until I lose at least 5kg (about 11lb). After that, I'll go back to the normal bandster eating plan for a month, then do another Optifast stint, till I've lost my 10-15kg that I need to lose before my op in December.

Even though I'm finding it difficult to find the discipline to lose quickly when eating on the bandster plan, at least I know that I can maintain fairly easily (coz that's what I've been doing). It's also a real bonus that I can stick to the Optifast MUCH more easily than ever I could in pre-band days. I just seem to do better when I force myself to be strict as anything a la Optifast. If I allow myself to choose my own menu, I gradually add more and more and snack in between, till all the loss stops and I start to yoyo again. NOT THIS TIME!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
