Hey Brandy, (BBK) are you still waiting on the Dr?

No I had the revision last week. Went well I finally look normal. But sick now--they think it is the flu.

How are you doing?

Maybe seeing you is what made him start thinking about adding both? I can't see him having you come in just for giggles and grins, so let's stay positve!

I'm not really UNpositive... more confused as to what he's looking for. Then again, so is he apparently. :)

Thanks, Slim.

Well... I felt the interview went well, but... I don't know. It sounds like he's restructuring his office and looking to add an associate. And the girl he has running the office is moving back home, so that's where the admin thing comes in.

It sounds as if he's not sure if he wants an attorney who can do some admin stuff or wants an associate AND an admin person... I don't know if HE knows what he wants yet. He said he will sit down with the girl who is leaving, try to plan a strategy as to where he wants this all to go, and conduct additional (second?) interviews.

He DID say that after knowing me and working with me in the courts for a few years, he was impressed by my professionalism, ability to handle the job, and personality. The other thing I also have going for me (according to him) over many of the other applicants he's had (OVER 100!!) is that, having worked in the courts as I did, I have an understanding of how the courts work.

I guess I'm just confused as to what he's trying to do and whether I will fit the changes he's trying to implement. It was nice interviewing with somebody I know and who knows some of what I can do, so that's good.

I guess I just don't know how to react to the interview. :)

Well think positive! he sounds very confused himself. It sounds like he likes you a whole heap! So prayers that you will hear back from him soon with the job!:smile2:

I know earlier on FB you were waiting to see the Dr. because you had a fever. I hope you get better soon.

How are you doing?

I will survive! I am taking things 1 day at a time. Go next week to see my GP so he can get me into a ENT about my thyroid. Then try to save the money for the neurosurgeon for my back.

No word from Ebony yet?

Ha!! The only reason you are staying under that glass ceiling is so that you can look up the skirts of the women who've climbed above you!!!

I'm not exactly denying that. *puts pinky finger to mouth in an attempt to look coy*

so i have no idea where we're going, but i'm guessing my blackberry storm will work, and i can read LBT on the road & take pics for FB.

Oh yeah! It's ALL about the FB pics lu. That way, it's like we're ALL going w/ you.

Just got back from buying some new pants that FIT, and even got me some new power-undies (which also fit). The other ones were goin' granny on me.

Power-undies. I like that concept. I may develop a male line of "power undies" with a built-in padded crotch.

Hello all!

Whoohoo!! Got my date for plastic surgery . It all happens on Monday, 7th December. It's going to be a long wait but at the same time, I'll bet it goes really quickly. I have to lose a minimum of 10kg (22lb) before then - six months to do it, so it is eminently possible! Just have to get seriously back on the program again...

I'm back at Argyle for my last swing before starting the new job. As it turns out, I had fortuitously arranged for my parents to come and visit the mine site this week (as they were travelling through the area on holiday). I took yesterday and today off work and we have spent the time looking around the area and doing some serious birdwatching. I've been able to give my new camera a real workout and got some great bird pics!

Here are some links to the slideshows, for those who want to see them all, but I'll embedding my favourites coz I think they came out really well!

Fanny, you take the most beautiful photographs!

Thank you! I'd love to take the credit, but when you have such a wonderful subject as the spectacular Australian scenery and wildlife, it's pretty hard to take a "bad" photo! I do think these ones turned out well though...

PJTP...Hi Y'all! I know I'm late, but...

Just got back from buying some new pants that FIT, and even got me some new power-undies (which also fit). The other ones were goin' granny on me. :tt2:

Ain't it great when you get to buy new clothes! I love shopping anyway, so...

Hello all!

PJPT

HELLO!

Long time no see, BBK! Very good to see you...

Thanks, Slim.

Well... I felt the interview went well, but... I don't know. It sounds like he's restructuring his office and looking to add an associate. And the girl he has running the office is moving back home, so that's where the admin thing comes in.

Sounds like you can go in and help him set everything up - and experienced person like yourself could be just what he needs...

That seems to be the rule, nowadays...second interviews...

This is all good...

I guess I'm just confused as to what he's trying to do and whether I will fit the changes he's trying to implement. It was nice interviewing with somebody I know and who knows some of what I can do, so that's good.

I guess I just don't know how to react to the interview.

I think it went well - from an outsider's perspective, he's thinking about how he wants to set up the office. Since he's had over 100 applicants, he's probably a little burnt out, and you're a known quantity - that will ease his mind, and I'd be surprised if he doesn't hire you.

None. I'm hoping she gets with us and tells us how it went.

Well...I arrived a bit early for my interview, as is my habit. My first interviewer was another Admin Assistant - she works for one of the docs in the section. The section is busy - 4 doctors, plus they are planning on adding staff and moving to a new facility which is being built for them as we speak. It will be primarily clinical in nature, so the admins will stay where they are...

The job sounds really interesting - multi-faceted, working for one of the top guys in the section. It's open because the previous person got a promotion. That's a good thing - she's still there helping out, so I won't be walking in blind...notice how I'm thinking positively!

They seemed impressed with my range of experience - asked me a LOT of questions regarding work situations. Very heavy on the "how do you get along with others" kind of stuff. They want someone to be a leader - no problem with me on that front - and someone who can play well with others. No problem there either.

My previous experience in the residency office was great - I was able to talk a lot about that. I even had an answer for the "why do you want to leave your current position" question. I told them (truthfully) that I miss the day-to-day contact with the people in the program that I'm working for. I don't see the applicants here - just phone and email, and I do miss that.

They told me they'll be doing a second round of interviews - and they kept me there until 5:15 pm! I started my interview at 4 pm. The first AA who interviewed me then took me over to meet one of the senior folk (I got the impression if I'd been a dud, she would not have introduced me) and we talked another few minutes.

I'm feeling really hopeful about the interview - in fact, I'm going to compose a thank you email and let them know I'm still very interested this morning just to reiterate...

I've already told them about my vacation plans so they know...hopefully when I come back from Florida in early July, I'll be coming back to a NEW JOB!

Ebony , Sound promising. I'll be keeping you in my prayers about getting the position.

Beth, I agree with what Ebony said about you would be the perfect one to help him set up. keeping you in my prayers also for the position.

I called to get my appointment set up to see my GP next week about my thyroid. he will be on Vacation next week. He is a walk in Dr. I have been his patient for 13 yrs. he has seen me through a lot. Anyway God is good, I asked if my Dr. would be on vacation or not. Normally I wouldn't of asked, but felt the need to. I would have been upset if I would have drove out there to see him and him not be there. It's not far,20 min, but when your strapped for gas.... So I have to wait a full week. I can't go today because I have orientation today and won't have the money until Monday.

I have gained 5 lbs since last week from a combination of eating/ steroids. Trying very hard today to get back on track.

I'm going to have to do the 5 day pouch test next week. have to go grocery shopping to get ingredients for my homemade Soups. LOL 90 degrees out and I am going to be doing soups!

Everyone have a blessed day and weekend.

G4E - thank you for your prayers and good wishes! I, like you, think the job sounds promising and I'm really excited about the possibilities. Right now, ANYTHING would be better than where I am...

I talked to my DH about it, and there is a remote possibility that I may have to step back a pay grade (my current position is an E, the new one is a D level). He put it all into perspective for me when he reminded me that I was doing just fine at the D level before, and then said that my health, happiness and well-being was worth far more than any temporary increase in pay.

Plus with the new job, there is room to move up...unlike at either my old position or my current one. That's important to me - I gotta have somewhere to go...I'm not ready for the ROAD program just yet (old Navy term - Retired On Active Duty)...

Blessing to you that you asked about your doc's vacation - I'm glad you didn't have to waste your time. Sounds like your doc is a good one - I pray there is an easy solution to your physical challenges and that you'll be at 100% soon. I hated being on steroids - gained 30 pounds with them before I was banded, and it seemed to take FOREVER for them to come back off. They did eventually come off, but...it wasn't fun.

Maybe you can do cold Soups - gazpacho and fruit purees could be nice when it's cold out. Perhaps a slushy kind of thing would work instead of Soup - just take it easy on the sugar...

The job prospect sounds GREAT, Ebony!

The only thing that caught me when reading this post was, might they be reluctant to take somebody who is an E grade and offer them a D grade? I don't know how much difference there is, but it's like some of the ladies I know who are "overqualified" for most all the jobs they are applying for. Companies won't even talk to them.

Might there be an issue for you with them stepping down your pay grade? I hope not. And the fact that you got an interview says they are interested regardless of where you are now.

Hi Beth!

I'm hoping they don't have a problem with it...that didn't come up during the interview yesterday, and they asked some borderline "inappropriate" questions...

Questions came up on subjects like discretion with confidential records, getting along with all types of people, handling conflict, how to deal with difficult co-workers, etc, etc. They even mentioned at one point that they preferred someone more - ahem - "mature" because there wasn't the problem with confidentiality that they feared with younger workers.

If they ask, I'll just let them know that fulfillment in the position is more important to me than the title. My union rep said I would not have to take a pay cut, but at this point, I'm really not caring  The difference isn't that great, and I think with a better work environment, I'll match and surpass my previous pay level in a short while.

I guess that's part of being more "mature" - you realize that small pay differences are not as important when balanced against your mental well-being and level of job satisfaction. I'm not ready to hang up my pumps yet, but the kind of drama that I was experiencing at my current position had me seriously considering it...

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
