Erm, Texas is in the south. :sneaky: *ducks and runs*

Texas may be located in the southern most region, however, Texas is its own country and Texans don't call themselves Southerners. You should know better, Beth!

I do appreciate the "ducks and runs" -- knew that'd come back to bite me one day!

True, but other people call Texans southerners. They just don't get it. Don't mess with Texas. :sneaky:

Hell, people HERE consider THIS the south. I've almost been bitch-slapped a few times when I burst out laughing.

is it wrong that i pointed ole granny to OH??

You did too? I thought it said LBT. I directed her to the Rants and Raves. They use the F-bomb and C-bomb a LOT over there. She'll appreciate it. :sneaky:

Seems like a suitable location for someone of that stature.

Atleast mine just spanked the crap outta me then moved on hehe

Mine gave me caster oil (shivers)...:sneaky:
mine taught me how to uncork a bottle of wine properly....a skill not many 6yrs old's had - but has served me well:thumbup:

What kind of grannies did you guys have?!? Hitting, castor oil and wine opening? Having not had one, I often wondered what I missed.

Yep it's the proper way to insult someone...ya know, it makes it okay :

I am not being snarky...I really want to know....is the phrase "bless your heart' an insult? Where I am from, it is a statement that you bestow on someone who is genuine and sweet or generous, and you are 'blessing' them...thanking them.

Texas may be located in the southern most region, however, Texans don't call themselves Southerners. :

The things I'm learning...I did not know that. *Tap updates her 'things to know when traveling' book*.

I feel smarter somehow not knowing the answer to that... or just naive.

Ditto

i will NOT go to the poop thread.............again.

Bet you did...you couldn't resist, could you?

Tap- I was born in Mississippi and there if you say "Bless your heart" It was mostly said by the older population when they were not necessarily trying to insult... But they were saying it because you were ignorant or naive.. or just didn't have a clue what you were talking about.

It really depends on the context. A bit on the tone, but since it's usually said in a very sweet manner, I wouldn't rely so much on the tone.

90% of the time, when that phrase is used, it's meant condescendingly (at least down south).

oh dear, not sure alex has enough bandwidth for me to answer that question here....:sneaky:

"bless your heart" - brandy gave a good explanation.

WOW - honestly, this is new to me. I can see why people (no matter how well meaning, and even speaking the same language) can get into trouble ... same words, entirely different meanings.

Note to self: Never say Bless you Heart unless with your family or friends!

I have laughed so hard today! My goodness, I needed that laugh so badly. The poop thread was hilarious! I enjoyed everyone's reply to granny, both here and on her thread. Priceless!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
