Chick--that quilt is beautiful and amazing! He is so lucky!

Trey-same to you!

I am off to go see Mommy. You all know how I hate that. I have no doubt she will talk about how sickly I look and how I need to gain some weight and try to stuff me with BAD BAD foods! Keep me strong friends!

I also have to go play nice and pretend my marriage isn't a joke.

WOW, I am filled with christmas spirit this morning aren't I? lol...sorry guys!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all of my BEST friends!

Oh... *sends cyber hugs to BBK*

How is it that none of the ladies here knew what a "dutch oven" was? That must be a dude thing....

A good Dutch Oven "brew" would consist of 1 part hard boiled egg ; 2 parts chili ; 4 parts beer.....

*sniff* Cyber hugs to Ceradad and Susan. It's understandable how the holidays can be extra hard if they're linked to something truly horrible.

Oh man my DH knew what it was.... NASTY

For sure a guy thing.

They must sit around and plot this stuff together. Which just goes to show, men should not be left alone to their own devices. It's never a good thing.

Susan - {{{BIG HUGS}}}

I lost my 11 year old niece 8 years ago and my family has struggled since then. It is very difficult to lose a child. I am so happy that you were able to give your father some peace. What a beautiful gift. Gift_emoticon.gif

Merry Christmas Eve all---and Christmas Day to some!!!

Ceredad, I am so sorry for your loss. I read your post, and picked up the phone--and called my own Dad, who has had numerous heart issues through the last 25 years. A couple of rounds of bypass surgery and countless stents. Called just to tell him I loved him. I could tell in his "I love you too Sis" that it touched him. For that I thank you sincerely. I wish I had some wise words for you.....but a cyber hug sent to you and your siblings will have to do.

Susan, your post too. My brother (my only sibling) is disabled as well--both mentally and physically from a car accident when he was 18. The call would make him uncomfortable, so I didn't make it. That is such a hard lesson for me--not to push MY way on to others!!! LOL Cyber hugs to you too. I keep meaning to answer your PM about the removed post on the closed thread. No problem, it OBVIOUSLY needed closed, I was headed your way for guidance after my post, then saw you had been there, so let it go!!

CO Chick--quilt is beautiful!! The only thing I make well is a mess! I am one helluva cook! Which got me into the shape I was--literally!!!

BBK---hang in there, remember the kids, and you can make it through it all. You love them way more than you dislike the ex, or resent your Mom!!!

My best friends have 3 sons, 2 biological and one adopted. When she was 15, and young and dumb, she got pregnant, and her father forced her into putting the child up for adoption. She eventually married, and they agreed thay wanted to adopt as a way to sooth her heart. So last year on their 25th anniversary all 3 boys jokingly had tshirts made up that said Mom's favorite on the front and Dad's #1 Son on the back. Because it was a long standing joke in the family when one would do "good" it would be them that was the favorite....just a fun thing. Well Chad, went behind the other 2 boys backs and had yet another shirt made. Bright white with shiny gold lettering and a halo above the words

THE CHOSEN ONE. It was hilarious! The best part was so many did not get it, having either never realized or having forgotten he was adopted!

Well....gotta GMAIG----DH is having a pot luck at lunch at work today and then is off til Monday. EVerything but the cooking dinner is done--------whew!!!

AND we got an awesome Christmas present this year! My DS has a DD from his first marriage, she is 7. We have not got to see her in years, and her Mom called and is letting us have her the afternoon and evening of Christmas! I am SOOOOO excited!!!

Have a great day everyone!

Kat

PJTP: Everyone please say a little prayer for a Christmas miracle. My daughter just learned they are postponing her Friday lap band surgery because some blood work is not completed. She has been on liquids since last Friday. She is devastated. The insurance says they may not allow the surgery in 2009. Thank you!

LilMiss - wherever have you been!?! I have missed you! Are you doing ok? Freezing like the rest of us?

Been here & there. Just really busy getting my butt back to being a good little bandster... waking up at 3am and such to do my 5k (speed walking and jogging intermixed--but hey I'm doing it!). Cold? Nah... I live in Cali :tt2:

LilMissDiva – where ya been? Don’t stay away so long next time.

See Above! I'll try to come by more often, I know! But you see, when I come back even after 24 hours this thread is 5 more pages long!

PJTP-

20 yrs ago this morning, my sister, brother and I woke up to find our mom was not at home. As it was Christmas Eve morning, obviously, we couldn't figure out why. Shortly after we got up, she came home. Said she had received a phone call earlier and she needed to drive around to figure out the best way to tell us our dad had died of a heart attack in southern Missouri.

My parents divorced when I was 3 and we hardly saw him outside of a week during the summer. Even then, he worked instead of taking vacation, so we only saw him a few hours each night. Needless to say, it was a strained relationship.

There was so much he, and us, missed out on even before his death. He didn't come me or my brother play in sports or my sister cheerlead. He never met any of our girlfriends or boyfriends. He never even knew our friends.

Still, I loved him. He was my dad. I see alot of the way he did interact with me coming out in the relationship I have in with Cera. I tease her the way he used to tease me. He used to tell me I was his favorite oldest son. I tell her she is my favorite child.

He had been in the hospital for almost a week prior to his passing for chest pains. He never told us. He died of a complete blockage of one of his arteries leading from his heart. He never had a chance. We never got a chance to say good bye to him. He was a big man, 6' 2" and well over 300 lbs. He never exercised and sat behind a desk all day.

I was 18 when he passed away. I have now spent more of my life without my dad than I did with him alive. Even though he was not the father I would have wanted, or needed, he was my dad and I miss him.

With all the bad, some good did come out of his death. It was because of all that we missed out with him that I decided on the lap band. Even though I was adopted, body wise I looked alot like him. I was going to do all I could to make sure Cera had a father as long as possible.

Sorry for being a downer today. For the past 20 years Christmas Eve and Christmas just don't have the same joyous atmosphere for me.

Thanks for "listening" everyone.

Anytime, that is what we are here for. :target:

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
