PJI am a happy camper since the scale went down a smidge! Yipee!

I am almost finished with a quilt I am making for my friend who was recently diagnosed with cancer. I will post a picture next week when I have it completed.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

CC- YAY on the scale loss! The quilt sounds lovely; as a quilter I would love to see the finished product.

Luluc - I too have my PJs on - but that's because I use them as long underwear under my sweats, and then snowpants and down vest as I once again venture into the wild winter weather. Gotta say - the shoveling is easier with weight gone; my stamina is improved. Still don't like to do it though....

Tap, I hope your mom arrives ok, let us know!

CC, wow, that sounds like an amazing quilt you are making! I am sure your friend will love it! I wish I had some sort of talent like that.

Lulu, I wish I could stay in my pj's today. But, alas, I did not finish my shopping yesterday because I am the world's biggest klutz, so I have to finish today.

Ok everyone, after some brief discussion amongst the moderators, it was agreed that this thread has not been a rant thread for a very, very long time. It is more a gathering place for longtime and new members of LBT to chat, joke, and just share life experiences with one another. Based upon that, I have officially moved this thread to the lounge.

We love everyone here and in this thread. So, lets continue to keep it a lite and enjoyable thread for all of us and remain friends in here. If we want to debate politics or other issues, then start a new thread in RNR. This is our official "escape" the realities of life thread. Or, at least, it is for me.

Thanks everyone.

I love that emoticon; it's going to work for me to use on our internal IM!

CC - my grandmother quilts and I just refuse to sleep under anything in my house but a "Granny quilt." Store bought just feels too stiff to me. I'm sure they will love the one you're making. (Very creative with the handprints; love that idea!)

Hey Bambam - welcome to the PJTP thread.

PJTP - my frail elderly mother was supposed to be en-route to California for Christmas, but the weather conditions have created all sorts of havoc on her flights. I sincerely hope she gets out on her re-re-scheduled flight on MOnday....her grandchildren will be so disappointed if she doesn't arrive for christmas. Here's hoping AA personnel aren't so frazzled by then that they forget the quiet sick woman in a wheelchair - she would never raise a fuss, or her voice, and would just sit there...

Gotta grab another java, and then go shoveling.

I hope she makes it. Is she there by herself, or does she have some sort of guardian until she gets on the plane?

PJTP: Good Morning All! It is cold here this morning but I am a happy camper since the scale went down a smidge! Yipee!

Although I do not want to get into the fight I have to mention that since I know Beth in real life that she is a lovely person. She is beautiful and caring.

I am almost finished with a quilt I am making for my friend who was recently diagnosed with cancer. I had his wife and children come over last weekend. I took impressions of their hand prints on fabric in metallic paints. I am combining the hand prints with family photos to make the front of the quilt. I bought fabric that has a pirates treasure map along with coordinating prints of gold coins and overflowing treasure chests. I am calling the quilt Eric's Treasure's. I hope to have it completed by his next round of chemo so he can take it with him. I will post a picture next week when I have it completed.

I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Thank you, CC.

And that sounds SO nice! I hope I get to see it before it goes to him as I'd love to see some of your work. That is a very lovely thing to do for him. Maybe when life isn't so busy I can help you sometime.

Fair enough, and I apologize for my part in it. Unfortunately some things just morph with no intention of making anything an argument. I guess I just wish some people could live and let live and realize we all have different views on things and allow dissenting opinions without making things personal.

'Course all those Morgan and ginger drinks I had at a rockin' Christmas party last night didn't help matters! :)

And with that said, I will now conform to the intent of this thread.

My band, my waistband, my liver.....

Thanks Beth. Because she is in a wheelchair she is entrusted to the American Airlines staff who (like all airlines) provide an escort/assistance function. But knowing that airlines are experiencing weather delays, and the general chaos of holiday travel, and frazzled nerves and just being human, sometimes they temporarily forget someone as (poor souls) they frequently have more than 1 person to look after. And my mother would NEVER ask for help - she would sit there in her wheelchair for hours. I'm sure she will be fine, but there is still a worry....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
