PJTP: I love mineral foundation! Had been going bare because I can't stand to wear foundation and finally decided to try minerals (went with the more economical Maybelline version from Walgreens). I love it, love it, love it! Doesn't feel like I have anything on but gives me great coverage nonetheless. Have been wearing it for just a couple of days and people are telling me I am glowing!

i have makeup issues - HATE makeup, that would be first.

second - i have bare minerals and after being banded my face is very dry; so the mineral makeup looks "caked" on.

i'm a cherry chapstick (i kissed a girl & i liked it...song in my head now) and mascara only person most days. i've found the aveda tinted moisture sp15 - to act as a foundation; but still not in love. each wk i'm buying some new product looking for that magic "glow"....think PS will help; well i keep telling DH that.

PS=plastic surgery for "glow"? Gah.

Q: does anyone remember if after surgery their fingernails began breaking? I have great nails normally and they're breaking weirdly now!

I have nails that are well, tough as nails. Yes, I have noticed that they break more easily now.

PJTP...My nails are stronger than ever since being banded. Must have something to do with taking my Vitamins and Calcium regularly (I took them before, but not so regularly) and the extra protien.

First two weeks I practically LIVED on Jello, which is supposedly good for your nails...don't know exactly why I've been blessed, but I'm happy for it!

Me too! And I was also blessed in that my thick hair did not fall out; it just got more and more shiny

My hair didn't fall out or get shiney. My scalp got dry and my hair is dull unless I dye it or change shampoos all the time. I have 3 different types of Shampoo. I am fixing to do a mayo treatment this weekend. Hopefully this will help. I used to do this a lot in my younger days.

Dulse is a specific type of seaweed eaten dried as a snack...it is VERY VERY VERY salty and chewy.

Hmmmmm, that sounds like my kinda snack. Is it pronounced like it's spelled ( Dull - sssssss)?

If we're not supposed to talk about politics in this thread, that includes you....

Hey, that wasn't a political salvo. I was speculating why our congress might feel the need to limit toilet paper usage. The real point (and I guess it is political after all) was that all freaking aspects of our lives are being legislated.....

Come on, Plain, if you guys are gonna fight, you can do better than that!

Things have been entirely too quiet around here since the elections ended and the religious lady left. We need a little excitement, hee hee.

Ah, I'm busted. I like all the regulars on this thread (even those that differ on political views). I'll never admit it again, though, ya buttholes.....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
