Dulse is a specific type of seaweed - I believe specific to the North Atlantic coastal nations. It is dried and (unlike as Luluc knows it), eaten dried as a snack...it is VERY VERY VERY salty and chewy.

DH received some as a gift (he is from a small place in the North Atlantic where this is grown and savoured); he is portioning it out as his extra special treat for the holidays. He is welcome to it!

yeah - i'm use to dulse in miso Soup.< /p>

red seaweed Jerky doesn't sound too appealing - i'd let your hubby keep it as well.

Particularly as DH exclaims in ectasy "You know it is the REAL thing, not a commercially processed chemically enhanced sterilized pseudo-dulse when there are little seashells in it".

That definitely does not sound very appetizing to me at all.

PJTP: They actually closed down some roads here in Houston because it's icy? Now, I've lived in the South, the West, and the North and Northeast, and I've never heard of that before! Anyway, I have another hour or so before I can go in since the roads are closed, right?

PJTP--I am changing my life with my attitude. I refuse to be unhappy ANYMORE!

Confuscious says: People treat you as well as you allow and as poorly as you allow. If you are a happy person and refuse to let unhappiness in, then unhappiness must take a walk.

Deep thought of the day: Could Confuscios just be a cleverly spelled name for "confuse us"?

Mac, are you susceptible to the lure of Cheetohs???

This is important information in the calculation of the odds.

Too close to call... flouride is a bandster so I have some feelings of allegiance there, but then again, sleeved is one tough cookie and I wouldn't want to cross swords with her. What to do, what to do? I know! Sit on the sidelines and just enjoy the show! he he

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
