Well if I wasn't positive about having the sleeve done before I'm definitely going forward with it now. Was having issues with my blood pressure so I went to the doctor. I have also had chest pain since 2008 and I brought that up to my doctor. He sent me to the cardiologist which I figured that nothing would come of that. my chest pain has always been assumed as being in indigestion problem. After my blood pressure started to get higher, having heart palpitations, and chest pain my doctor decided to send me to a cardiologist. I had an echo cardiogram 2 weeks ago. They called me back for a follow up. I still thought nothing of it. Just thought maybe that they were going to tell me that I had a heart arrhythmia. Come to find out there's damage to both my left and right side of my heart. The left is because of being overweight and because of the high blood pressure but the right side is because a pulmonary as she is. The cardiologist said it was really important that I have the weight loss surgery. After I've lost 50 to a 100 pounds I have to go back in and see if that right side of the heart has improved or got worse. If it's got worse than its not weight related. I'm so scared.

Getting the surgery will be a step in the right direction to help your heart get healthy. It's amazing how the body can heal itself when we exercise and eat right and lose some weight. Best of luck to you on your journey to good health.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
