nessa3678 0 Posted October 31, 2007 So, tomorrow is the big day for me. I have all kids of emotions going on right now. Guess I just wanted to see if anyone had any pre surgery advise for me. Anything that is a must have for tomorrow or anything I should do tonight. I've got all my liquids, Protein powder and gas x. Thanks, Vanessa
Debbs27 0 Posted October 31, 2007 Hey Nessa, Good luck tomorrow! Some of the things I found helpful was to wear slide on shoes (I couldn't bend for about 6 days) and a small pillow to put close to you while wearing your seat belt. A heating pad was also helpful. Let me now how you make out!
make33 2 Posted October 31, 2007 Congratulations:clap2:! I know at this point in time, I was ready to jump out of my skin! Everything will go well, and best of all, it will go quickly. Just listen to the health care professionals--they will have your best interests at heart! Good luck to you!
Pattypoo1 0 Posted October 31, 2007 Hey Nessa, I am being banded tomorrow as well. They called today and changed my time from 8:30 to 10:30 which ticked me off because I had my ride all set....I have no real emotions at this time. I am keeping my mind off of it, and I have to work tonight so keeping busy. I did a lot of housework this am. I am going around and putting things at a reachable level as I understand we will not be able to bend over. I have the slide shoes and the pillow for the car. The heating pad is ready, meds are filled. I put a weeks worth of Dog food on the counter so I won't have to bend to get it out. Good luck to all of use and we need to post as soon as we feel up to it. I will be thinking about you and the others on our list for tomorrow.
nessa3678 0 Posted October 31, 2007 Thanks a bunch everyone! I didn't think about the pillow for the car. I do have a heating pad at home. What will the heating pad help? Patty - Good Luck to you tomorrow as well! My surgery is for 9:30. Thankfully my husband will be home with me until Monday so that will help out a lot. My mother and cousin are taking turns with my 2 year old daughter until Saturday. I am going to miss her so much but she is one of the main reasons I am having the surgery to begin with. Anyway, hope all goes well and hope to hear from you as soon as you are up to it.
Debbs27 0 Posted October 31, 2007 Once you get home you may be sore - at my first post op visit the nurse told me to use a heating pad to relieve the pain. It really does help. Debbie
juliegeraci 7 Posted October 31, 2007 Nessa, good luck tomorrow. Besides Soup or other liquids I think Protein Powder and gas x are correct. Good luck!
Longhorn 1 Posted October 31, 2007 I'm tomorrow, too! Frankly, the only reason I'm nervous is because I'm not nervous! The only thing I have left to do is pick up my prescription on the way home (liquid Tylenol with codeine) and take a shower. Everything else is ready. I've even graded all of the quizzes I gave last night and today so that I won't have to worry about it while I'm out. I cancelled classes tomorrow and Monday and hope to be back at work on Tuesday. And due to the time change, we get an extra hour this weekend! My surgery is at 7 a.m. and I have to be there at 6 a.m. so we'll probably get up at 5 to leave by 5:30. I'm on Clear Liquids today but thank goodness I don't have to do the bowel prep! Good luck, November Firsters!
Sue Magoo 71 Posted October 31, 2007 Vanessa: If you haven't already, take a trip to the drugstore and buy some gauze pads and some medical tape to put them on with. Unfortunately you'll need a few big gauze pads to put on the port site (4 x 4 or so), and they charge alot of $$$ for those compared to a bandaid. You might also want to make sure you have sugar free popsicles at home. I found that my throat was sore after having the tube during the surgery. Good luck. Forestcat5 1 Posted October 31, 2007 Hello everyone! My surgery is tomorrow also, and I'm scheduled at 8:30am. I'm a bit nervous, but I know tomorrow I'll be VERY nervous! I have all the supplies ready for when I get home, and after these 2 weeks on Optifast I'm really looking forward to some warm, pureed, strained soup! Best of Luck to all of you!!!! victoria52 0 Posted November 1, 2007 Hi, I had my surgery 10-29-07, so I'm 2 days post op. One thing I knew I would use again is my "Trash Picker-uppers". This is a valuable tool that I used a lot when I had back sugery a few years ago, and it helps. Best of luck to you, I would say soreness and gas are going to be your biggest obstacles, initially. nessa3678 0 Posted November 1, 2007 Thanks everyone for all your best wishes and good luck to everyone else being banded tomorrow as well! Sue - I totally forgot about the gauze pads. I even told my hubby that I wanted to buy some and forgot. I guess he will be making a run to the store for me tomorrow. Oh, and I do have a whole box of sugar free popsicles! Stevelovesmusic 0 Posted November 1, 2007 Well, I'm having my lapband tomorrow morning. I guess I need to get something for gas? What would that be exactly? I'm nervous, but ready. Steve:phanvan
