So, I’m single, and I don’t like to cook. What in the world should I eat? I’ve been eating tuna with light mayo, a scrambled egg, cottage cheese; things like that, but that gets old quickly. I thought about and bought some healthy choice meals, but those have sodium and carbs. I just don’t know what to do.

I’m in the same boat as you.. single, hate cooking.. not even really enough time cause of work.. I eat the same thing every single day.. definitely old.. and my weight loss has slowed so I am discouraged at this point

I’m not a good cook and I’m a single parent. I make a big batch of quinoa in a rice cooker in low sodium Soup broth and add spices like garlic to it. It may be kinda bland, but you can always put Tomato sauce or something and veggies in your individual bowl when you reheat some for a meal. I keep the cooked quinoa in a huge lidded bowl in the fridge and scoop out individual portions at meal time and doctor it up for whatever flavor my son or I want for the moment. You can cook the quinoa in just Water. Use a little more than twice the amount of water as you use quinoa. Example: 1 cup quinoa use a little more than 2 cups of water. My doctor was super happy when I switched to eating quinoa a couple years ago. Quinoa is a nutritionally dense food that your body metabolizes differently than it does rice or Pasta.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
