Beginning to Regret

Recommended Posts

I had RNY March 2017. My highest weight was 330. Surgery day I was 292. This morning I was 176. I have no regrets. It was the best decision of my life. I should have done it years ago. My diabetes is gone. Im off about 5 different meds. My blood pressure is good. I can actually jog. I don't have dumping. I may burp a lot occasionally, if I over eat or eat too fast. I don't vomit any more than I did prior to surgery. Every now and then I know if I take another bite I will. So I don't take another bite. I did not lose any hair. It is as thick as it's ever been. My Vitamin levels are good I just finished exercising with my 5 year old. One of the perks. Before i could onlu sit and watch her run around. I went from a size 26 to a comfortable size 12. Everyone thinks I'm much smaller. I don't correct them. Also as Johnny2thumbs. I can generally eat what I want. I just stay away from sugar, rice, bread, Pasta, and others.

Hello there,

The only thing I can offer on this topic is to watch and know your body. I started out doing pretty good, but was back under the knife 8 months later, then 4 months after that. I have lost now over 180 lbs but it has been a non stop struggle.

Listen to your body, and if you notice you are becoming constipated, my physician suggested stool softeners and staying hydrated. I know you have heard this until you are blue in the face, but chew your food and don't eat to fast.

The only thing successful about having gastric bypass for me was the weight falling off which I know sounds silly as that is the main agenda for many but mine came with way to many hang ups and now facing a bypass reversal. Listen to your body and heed its warning. Stay on top of your Vitamins as well as low potassium can be damaging to the heart.

Just remember you can do everything right and as instructed and your body can still turn on you and be plagued with issues. It is not your fault but it is the only body you get so take care of it and if you start feeling excessively weak or having abdominal pain get to the ER.

I wish you the best and much success. Although I have lived in a total discord this last year and a half I know many, many people that have had the surgery that are experiencing nothing but positive results.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Had a sleeve in 2017, lost over 100 pounds. Had a DS surgery this year (2025) for more sustainable weight loss. 🤞

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
