Looking at you’re name I’m wondering if you are from Connecticut. If so, I can tell you that I got an approval quicker than that and so did another friend. Best wishes!

I am in CT (near New Haven). I see your surgery date is soon. Good luck!!

Thank you! Good luck to you too! I’m in Bridgeport. And from what I’ve seen so far from people I know who have gotten approved, it usually takes a week or two. I found out in less than a week! Then I got the approval letter the following week! Hope you’re approval is just as speedy!

No, I’m using Dr Neil Floch at St V’s. I love him and his staff. My friend used Dr Ghiassi last year and she loved him. He did a great job. She’s very happy! You’re definitely in good hands!

Thank you! And same to you! Being nervous is normal but don’t second guess yourself now. You decided on this for a reason. If you’re still nervous tomorrow ask for something for the nerves. They will accommodate you. You’ve got this 😉

I would love to make some surgery buddies now so we can go through all the pre-op requirements together and stick through surgery and beyond. Anyone else already know their surgery will occur this summer?

My surgery is going to fall in the July or August time frame. Most of this is dependent upon checking all my surgeon's boxes, the rest is dependent upon my financing since I'm self-pay. I'll be getting the sleeve.

I love my surgeon and feel really lucky to have found him. So far the pre-op stuff has gone smoothly, but I am just at the beginning stages. I've scheduled all my evals and classes and attended my first weight loss class last week. I found it to be mildly helpful. It was certainly geared more toward those that hadn't already read through the surgery binder and/or those that had no clue what healthy eating consisted of. I'm hoping future classes focus more on the post-op eating.

My first visit with my PCP about this surgery is next week as that's the soonest I could get in to see her. I'm hoping she'll be supportive as my surgeon knew of her when I told him that's who I see. But if I have to find another PCP so be it.

My first dietician appt is next week and psych eval is the week after that. I only have to get these three meetings out of the way to schedule my surgery. So I'm anxious to get that done!

I'm excited to hear from others along the same timeline as me!

My surgery date is August 13th also!!!! Ahhh I am so excited/nervous/I dont even know bc I have thought about doing this forever and it all happened so fast it does not even seem real. I am also self pay, and have been jumping through pre surgery hoops and just got my official surgery date on Thursday. I am gonna be BROKE after this but know it will be worth it! I really like my surgeon and his group also. I am 31 and unmarried, and it was important to me to get the single incision surgery because my scars do not heal well.

What are you doing pre-op, ect?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
