Hey all!! Just wondering if you guys are eating carbs and if so how many per day?

Absolutely - I couldn't afford the side effects that can accompany the low carb diets. These days in maintenance it is usually in the 150-200 g range (on a 2000-ish calorie diet) while when losing it usually wound up in the 70-120 g range (though I had/have no particular goals for it; it is what it is when everything else balances out nutritionally; same for fats.)

I’ve only been eating around 5 to 10g of carbs a day. I think it’s why I keep stalling. I’m 8 weeks post op.

Honestly, I find that doing some form of a carb up every few weeks breaks a stall.

I actually had a 2 bites of a chicken soft shell taco last night and 2 bites of refried Beans at a Mexican place for my daughters bday. Her pick. It was first time that I had eaten out since surgery. I tried the shell to see if I could tolerate and I did fine. Today my stall broke. Been stalled for 7 days. So I think there’s truth in that statement!!

My usual is 30-50 carbs a day. I will say the few times I’ve gone up to 70 carbs my “stalls” have broken too. But I’m happy at 30-50 most days since I still need to get 60g Protein before that.

Usually 30-50 here— but not intentionally tracking carbs but it’s in my journal app. Happens to be aligned with the Protein meals Im eating

Seems to be around 60-100. I asked my nutritionist if I should be tracking my carbs. They said not really. Just eat them in moderation.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
