Poll: What is your goal?

Recommended Posts

Eventually shooting for 150 - haven't seen that in about 26 years! I've got to admit, I'm amazed at how differently people are proportioned. When I was 150, I was every bit of a size 14 blue jean. Just built like a fire plug, I guess :( But at least I'll be a smaller fire plug!

I'm 5'3" HW was 412 and CW 357 (still pre-op). My goal is 150, but like someone else said, getting off meds, and walking better are most important. I haven't been under 300 in 35 years. NSV would be increased ability to move around.

My 2nd time around I started at a HW of 242 at my revision consult. Which was actually heavier than my first wls back in 2010. SW was 226 on 8/8/17. My program never asked me to set a specific goal. If I went by the BMI chart, I should be 142. I had exactly 100lbs of excess weight to lose. My personal goal would be to get to 150. Just at the top of normal on the BMI chart for my height. As of this morning, I have 9lbs to go.

My first NSV that really stood out was being able to wear riding boots that weren’t wide calf. Now I can cross my legs easily and even double cross my legs. Also, I tried on jeans on Sunday and was able to put on a size 8 without issue.

I'm 4ft 11in with a HW of 275. BMI chart says 95-125 but that seems ridiculously low to me. So I'm shooting for 150 and see how I feel/look then. Just want to be able to get in and out of bed without losing my breath [emoji38]

My Realistic goal weight is 199 lbs. 175 woyld be the lowest I would go. I am not petite or dainty. I have wide, broad shoulders and hips for days! I have been under 175 before and I look sickly. I want the weight gone, but I don want to look as bad as when I was heavy. I have lost a lit of weight in my face.

I’m curious! :)

What is your goal weight? How tall are you? How much weight do you have to lose? What is your proudest NSV?

For those of you who have met your goal weight: How many pounds have you lost? How long did it take to reach your goal?

I’m 5’2”, starting at 240ish pounds, with an ultimate goal weight of 130 :)

I'm 5'4".

My highest weight evs was 325lbs. My most recent high was 287lbs and the weight was heading up, up, up.

I started pre-surgery preparation last May (2017).

SW 222.4lbs

CW 193.2lbs

1st GW 150lbs

Secret GW 135lbs (that puts me smack in the middle of my theoretical "normal" range for my height)

My actual physical goals are beyond scale related. I want to reduce my chronic daily pain back to the point that it's <4 on the pain scale. I want to reduce my risk of BC recurrence, normalize my A1c out of the pre-diabetic range, reduce my fasting insulin, reduce the Fluid around my heart and reverse my heart enlargement, normalize blood pressure without drugs, reverse my asthma and dependence on asthma drugs, decrease my left arm lymphedema leftover from BC, increase my core strength to correct some DDD changes and curvatures, improve my balance, increase my endurance, and be able to participate in life outside my front door step. I want to be able to go anywhere, do anything, wear event appropriate clothing without being self-conscious, be able to wear a bathing suit in public and be able to take float trips down the Frio and Guadalupe and Comal rivers.

My most recent NSV is that I went to a minor league baseball game last night and wore a short sleeved shirt for the first time in 20 years. My butt fit in the seat (barely) but it fit. And I wore my arms bare in all their bat-winged glory. I put the F-U in fun. It felt so freeing and I was able to just cope with the pain from sitting in the chairs and for too long without using anything for pain, and was still able to enjoy the night.

I am 5’6 and started at 241. I am 12 days post op and I am 214. My goal is 160, although we will start trying for another baby when I am at 170.

I am 37 years old and my last pregnancy was high risk due to excessive Fluid, due to my weight, so I am hoping that our next one will be easier.

I am 5ft8in, was a hair under 6 feet before menopausal shrinkage, 323 down from 355 last October 2017. My own goal is 175, my ex--surgeon's idea was 134 based on my bone structure, he can take himself and his 134GW where the sun doesn't shine and lightening strikes often, he divorced me from his practice, my consummate goal is to vindicate myself and have a smooth perfect surgery and weight loss with someone else, and it will Be Happening. At 72 I will be satisfied with 198 or less. Any more will be the gravy on the biscuit, neither of which can I have again. I am strong, I am invincable, I am Silver Cougar Woman, hear me roar!

5’6” and goal is for the middle of my BMI range .... so I’d be thrilled with 140 and happy with 150

5’6” started at 271.

I never set an ultimate goal. First goal was under 200. Next was less than my husband. Then was lowest adult weight (155).

If anything I had a size goal which was that I would be over the moon to get to single digits (8).

I blew by it all and became a muscular and toned 135/size 4 at almost exactly one year out.

Orchids🌼 and Dragons and the rest:
I would be thrilled myself to be built like a🚨 fire plug, I just am tired of being the size of a large burning barrell!🏮

I am 5'3" and my HW was 219. My surgeons goal was 140, but mine was 125. I ended up losing to 115 and have been pretty comfortable here for 17 months. It took almost 9 months post-op to reach goal but almost 1/3 of the weight loss was during my 6 month pre-op insurance required supervised period.

I am 5'4 and my HW231, my CW205 and my surgery date is May 16th. I set a goal weight of 150 and actually my doctor asked me what I wanted to get to and my surgeon has never asked me. I cant remember being under 150 for so long as I will try to reach that first.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
