So I’m scheduled for a sleeve on Thursday 4/19/18. I’m wondering how the pain will be. I like to think I have a pretty high pain tolerance. So my question is, for you ladies that have had a c-section, which pain is worse post c-section or post-sleeve? Just so I can get an idea of what to expect. I had a c-section in March 2016 and got my wonderful twin baby girls out of it. Came home and got my rx of pain meds filled but never used them. So I’m curious about the sleeve surgery.

I didn’t have a C-Section but I did have my son vaginally naturally with no meds. This is nothing in comparison. I was just sleeve last Monday 4/9. The gas pain is what I would say was the worse maybe 6/10? Nothing crazy. I took pain meds day 1 & 2 and after that didn’t take anything else.

That makes me feel a little better. I’ve been fine this whole time and now 3 days before I’m freaking out!

No comparison, in my opinion. I only used pain meds for 3 days when I came home, and it was more a precaution than anything. I was easily and happily up moving a few hours after surgery.

I had two c-sections (27 / 25 years ago). Those were hard to recover from. RNY on 4/11 and little to no pain and incisions are higher so much easier to navigate

I had 4 c-sections and the gas pain on immediately after was the worst ever for me. Once I got thru day 2, I felt normal.

Overall they both are painful and to compare the two (with my very first c-section) I believe it’s about a tie; however, the sleeve recovery seems to be much faster and easier.

Get past first 2 days and you’ll be fine

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
