Please tell me that this will go away sometime soon I had the same thing happen to me and the surgeon said it is due to the production of ketones in the body. Once this goes away, food starts to taste again. It does get better. For the first two weeks when I was allowed to start food on puree, food tasted like saw dust even though I added spice. 2 debbie89 and James Marusek reacted to this

Taoz 284 Posted April 15, 2018 ohhhh, hadn't seen discussion of this before. Thanks for sharing, I'll try to prepare myself mentally for food to potentially taste really bland for a while.
belinda401 116 Posted April 15, 2018 Yep! I am 6 months out and I remember the first cup of coffee that I had was so awful! And I LOVE coffee. I am pretty much of out of a strong ketosis now and it is much better. Hang in there! 1 Taoz reacted to this
MermaidInAZ 29 Posted April 15, 2018 I had a metallic taste in my mouth and when I did the research and on my one-month follow up my doctor confirmed it. That nasty metallic taste lasted for 3 days and I could barely eat or even drink resulting in getting dehydrated. But now I'm good and food is tasting good. But I can't wait until I can start having hot sauces again!! Hang in there, first step! You got this!
