star2017 80 Posted April 14, 2018 Day 5 post op. I'm tired of sleeping in the recliner my back hurts lol. When were you able to sleep flat in your bed without out being propped up? Side sleeping? Will it hurt your staples inside to sleep on your side? I'm so afraid of creating a leak i don't dare do anything but walk and sip lol
Mattymatt 491 Posted April 14, 2018 I think it was day 8 or 9 before I could comfortably lie flat. I don't even have a recliner so I had to grin it and bear it. Just remember that this will pass. You're going through one of the toughest stages of this journey but an end is in sight. 1 ThisRoxx reacted to this
Newme17 3,444 Posted April 14, 2018 Only times I slept somewhat upright was the two days in the hospital. I slept on my back after that at home.
nycgirl18 25 Posted April 15, 2018 I slept propped up and on my side in the hospital, with extra pillows supporting my back and hugged to my tummy. My surgeons said that was fine as long as I was comfortable. At just over a week and a half out, I can sleep comfortably in any position - even somewhat on my stomach. jennypenny1998 41 Posted May 1, 2018 I was able to sleep flat a few days out of surgery. Try what nycgirl said, use extra pillows around you. Maybe a body pillow that you can hug or wrap around you?
Gagsy 62 Posted May 1, 2018 My armchair became my best friend over my first week recovery. By the second week I could sleep in my bed, not very comfortably but it still beat being in the damned hospital!
star2017 80 Posted May 1, 2018 I'm now 3 weeks post op. sleeping has gotten so much better the last week. Finally in my bed and can sleep on my sides with no problem i haven't attempted my stomach yet as some spots are still tender. And i agree propping the pillows to support the sides really did help!! Darin'Sharon 19 Posted May 2, 2018 I've had the same issue. I am 8 days post OP and still sleeping in the recliner. I tried to sleep in the bed, but getting back up to go potty, I think I pulled something inside. Haven't been able to lay flat or bend over much since then. I know it will pass, but I sure miss my bed!Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
