After sleeve protein

Recommended Posts

Hey, all! For those of you who are post-op: have any of you tried the clear Protein Drinks? If so, what's your favorite brand/flavor? Wondering if they are worth stocking up on especially since I'm lactose intolerant.

I tried the Australian clear Protein Water yesterday (bodie'z protein). Tastes kind of like Gatorade. I have the clear unflavored powder on order. Much easier for me to swallow. (I make my Meal Replacement shakes with lots of ice and eat them with a spoon to avoid the texture turning my stomach).

Should be a very good option for you if lacrosse intolerant. Much

I liked the Protein20 drinks, they taste "normal" and not like a Protein Drink. It's only 15g per bottle though, so it would be hard and expensive for that t be your only source of Protein.

Muscle Milk premade shakes are dairy free, so you could try those. They are 32g of protein for 160 calories. So two of those a day will get you to your protein goals.

I like the Isopure zero carb Apple Melon, that said these clear Protein Drinks aren't usually ideal immediately post surgery, because they are really hard to concentrate (i.e. make into a 4oz drink with the amount of Protein that usually goes into an 8oz drink). They are also hard to fortify with extra protein from milk (I recommend the fairlife fat free because it will give you more protein).

Makes sense. I just know how my stomach feels when I have lactose now so don't want to risk milk or anything. But, I'll try a few things out.

I'm extremely lactose intolerant. Originally I started off only buying whey Protein isolate as it's lactose free (there's a million brands pick and choose). But they're generally more expensive and taste poorly.

As far as ready to drink Protein Shakes go my two favorite lactose free ones were Labrada Lean Body and Oh Yeah! Protein Proteins. I found muscle milk disgusting.

However I recently tried Premier Protein shakes and found them delicious, as well as being healthier and cheaper than everything out there. So now I just use those and take several of the lactase enzyme pills with them. You can get cheap generic brand lactase pills from Walmart Sam's club costco etc. Personally I think just buying the lactose pills and taking 3 with a premier shake (or whatever shake you enjoy the most) is the way to go. But if you want the naturally lactose free ones then the options I mentioned above are the best i am aware of.
