Brittjustine29 6 Posted April 13, 2018 It’s a little embarrassing to talk about but has anyone else experienced abnormally foul smelling gas after gastric bypass? It doesn’t matter what I eat, it’s still awful and so embarrassing!!! I don’t know what to do. I wonder if there’s any supplement or medicine I can take to help... Anyone have advice? Thanks! 1 FluffyChix reacted to this

TakingABreak 2,733 Posted April 13, 2018 Yeah mine is embarrassing to say the least! I’m constantly leaving the office. I go outside vs the bathroom. It’s terrible! 1 FluffyChix reacted to this
aNYCdb 310 Posted April 13, 2018 (edited) I'm pretty sure that noxious gas after RNY or DS are pretty much expected. The issue is that due to the malabsorption that these procedures cause more undigested food makes it to the colon where the enzymes there attack it leading to a much more "robust" experience. I would also add that these are not generally temporary. I know people 10 years out from RNY that deal with this. Edited April 13, 2018 by aNYCdb
ValJean 6 Posted April 13, 2018 (edited) I recently discovered the Weight Loss Surgery Podcast and have been catching up on older episodes. The host recently talked briefly about this issue and mentioned a pill called Devrom. It's OTC and when I searched for it online I learned that it is a Bariatric Pal branded product. https://store.bariatricpal.com/products/devrom-flatulence-deodorizer-and-internal-deodorant I've not tried it myself, but found it very interesting, as I had no idea there was such a thing as a "flatulence deodorizer and internal deodorant." Best of luck! Edited April 13, 2018 by ValJean

Frustr8 7,886 Posted April 14, 2018 yeah you guys do tend to think that way. When It happens to me, due to advanced age😦, no surgery as of yet, I look for a small child or dog to blame it on😙

wjgo 272 Posted April 14, 2018 Use this feature to your advantage. Find unaccompanied children in grocery carts and let the silent but deadlies go. 10 points if they start crying. I did that once, or twice.....Sent from my XT1609 using BariatricPal mobile app

Well, if ya can't laugh and commiserate with friends, who can ya do it with--especially when the subject is "Farts for $500, Alex."
