I had no idea how difficult this pre op liquid diet would be. I've read countless articles and stories and thought to myself that since I had been diligently dieting all the way up to surgery (past 10 months) that I would be able to do this no sweat. I.Was.So.Wrong. I have not cheated and will not due to my fear of compromising surgery. I started on Wednesday 04/11/2018 and have to go all the way until my surgery on Wednesday 04/25/2018. I am so sick of sugar free popsicles, sf Jello, and chicken broth. I limit my chicken broth to not go above my sodium intake each day however, with these 3 options I am to the point of just not really eating and mostly just drinking Water. I can get maybe 1 Premier Protein shake in a day since I am so tired of shakes already. I feel foggy, sometimes lightheaded, and weak even though I am still religiously taking my Vitamins all of them recommended by my doctor.

Does anybody else know of any other items I can add to my CLEAR 2 week liquid diet? I cannot have sugar and it has to be clear.

Thanks Guys!

I started my diet on the 4th of April. I am so tired of Protein Shakes, too.

Last night, I made a Protein milkshake. I took some ice, Water, and flavored Protein Powder and blitzed them up in my blender. Tasted amazing!! It was so nice to get a different texture! You should try it.

I'm super jealous of your Popsicles. I'm not allowed to have anything other than protein shakes, water/crystal light, and a cup of veggies every day.

Best of luck!

I would give anything to have tuna and veggies. Can we all just combine the best parts of our diets and have popsicles tuna and veggies for two weeks~ I am so excited to see someone with the same surgery date/liquid diet as me!!!!!!! Super nervous here even though I've been a cool cucumber for the past 10 month journey. I love the idea of ice making a smoothie. I think it's really the texture I'm missing and having something to chew even if it is minuscule!!

My clear liquid diet is exactly like yours along with the schedule after surgery. I thought mine was a bit excessive too but I will follow the rules given to me to be successful. I'm envious of the people who 'only get one meal a day.' haha.

I know right! I'm not knocking anyone's experience but I would give anything for the to just be able to chew some actual food. My doctor is way strict but I will have to follow their rules. At least I know if I can make it through this I can make it through anything!!

The premade Jello, from the grocery tends to,be more firm, maybe, the would help with the lack of chewing. If you are making it at home skimp,a little on the Water, might make more tough and rubbery.😋

It's not clear so I cant have it. But I will have to look into it once I'm in the creamy liquid stage. Can I ask what brand is it?

Have you ever had Bone Broth? It’s so much richer tasting that regular broth and healthier too! I buy brands that are low in sodium and then add my own garlic salt into it. Makes it feel much more like a meal.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
